Ro and Val got a table and sat silently for a bit. But it was way too awkward. "Soooo. Um, where are you from?" Ro asked, breaking the silence. "Oh I'm from California." Val said. "Really!? That's awesome, I'm from Florida." Ro said with a smile. "Oh I love Florida." Val said. "Yeah me too but I really wanna live in Iceland." Ro said. "Iceland? Why Iceland?" Val asked. "Well it is very beautiful and people are very accepting and it's very safe there." Ro said. "Huh, I never knew that. Cool." Val said. It was silent again.

"Hi!" A strange woman said. "I'm Meradith. I'll be your waiter this evening." She said with a cheesy smile. “Can I start you off with any drinks or appetizers?”  “Uhm can i have a lemonade?” Val asked. “Of Course gorgeous!” She said, smiling at Val. “Uh thanks.” Val said with a twisted smile. “AHEM. I’ll have some cranberry juice. Please.” Ro said with a firm voice. “Oh uh ok.” the waiter said. It was quiet again and somehow way more awkward than it was before. “Are you alright? You look really nervous.” Ro said. Val didn’t realize she spaced out. “Yeah I’m fine!” Val said with a nervous smile. "Well I'm ready to order whenever you are." Ro said quietly.

A little later Meradith came back and gave them their drinks and took their orders. "So I was wondering." Val said. "Hm? Wondering what?" Ro asked. "Why did you ask me out?" Val asked. "Well we only have a little time so why not?" Ro replied. 'Little time?' Val thought. "I'm sorry uh little time?" Val asked. "Oh! Uh I mean like to live! You only live once!" Ro said nervously. "Um ok. Well if we only have a little time I should enjoy my dog." Val said. Everything went quiet. "You have a dog?" Ro asked. "Yes his name is Charlie!" Val said as Rosely's smile grew wider. "I LOVE DOGS," Ro said with a huge smile.

So Val and Ro had finished dinner and were getting ready to go. When they both pulled out their wallets at the same time. "What are you doing?" Ro asked, staring at Val. "Just getting out the money.." Val said. "I told you I was paying." Ro said. "Too late I guess." Just as Val said that Ro rushed to the front. In the end Ro beat Val and paid. On the way out Val looked back and saw the waiter wink at her. Val quickly gave her a look that said she declined.

The car was quiet and kinda awkward. Valerie wanted to say something but didn't know if she should.  They soon got to Ro's neighborhood. "Well here we are." Val said. "Yup… hey could you look straight ahead for a second?" Ro said. Valerie was confused but agreed and looked straight.

Then she felt a small kiss on her cheek and almost immediately looked over at Ro who was getting out of the car. "Wait-" Val tried to say something to Ro but stopped when she saw Rosely's smile. Ro was sad.
