Valerie was frozen. She didn’t know what to say except for sorry. What was she supposed to say?

She was zoned out the rest of the day. When she got off work she wanted to see Ro more than usual. So she took a short cut to Ro’s bus stop so she could wait for her. So she waited and soon saw the bus. She was ready to talk to her.

 “Rosely!” Val yelled at Rosely as she was getting off the bus. Ro stopped and looked at Val. “What are you doing here?” Ro asked. “We need to talk.” Val said. Ro smiled. “Sorry not right now.” Ro said. “Ro please I know you’re not busy you just won't talk to me. But please just talk to me, there is something I need to know.” Val said. Ro sighed and walked towards Valerie and grabbed her hand. “Ok i’ll talk to you but only if you take me out for a snack.” Ro said, smiling at Val. “Fine, I just want to talk to you.” Val said feeling relieved Ro was going to talk to her.

“So what do you need to talk to me about?” Ro asked. "Well I was at work today and a man came in. He was my coworker's husband." Val said nervously. "Ok? What does this have to do with what we're talking about?" Ro asked with a smile. "Turns out the man was a doctor. And he said your name." Val said with a serious face. Ro paused. "What was his name?" Ro asked firmly. "Salum." Val replied. Rosely was still she didn't know what to say she was scared thinking of the fact that Val might have found out. 

"What did he say?" Ro asked. "He said he had a patient named Rosely then he left and my coworker said she had cancer. But he described her and it sounded exactly like you." Val paused as she saw the fear in Ro's eyes. "Rosely. Do you have cancer?" Val asked, staring at Ro.

 "I um, I didn't want you to find out." Ro said. Tears began to fill Rosely's eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you and I'm sorry I avoided you. But it was because I knew that I liked you and didn't want to hurt you." Ro said beginning to cry. "Hurt me? How could you ever hurt me?" Val stood up and went over to Ro. "I could never be hurt by you." Val said hugging Rosely. "I might not survive it. And I don't want to hurt you by leaving." Ro said hugging her back. "You will make it and if you don't I want to remember being with you. Please be with me and let me see you all the time. Forever or until you leave."

"I might hurt you but I will always be with you Valerie don't ever forget that if I leave ok." 

"Of course."
