My View

I like to think of myself as a hippy.

Yes, I love cannabis. I wear hemp bracelets and love to get stoned. Though I haven't really for months, my views on it didn't change. I wear flowers in my hair every chance I get and I really love the idea of dreadlocks. I put tapestries up in my room and I listen to music that really heals the soul. I love the rosta combination of colors. I'm not trying to prove myself here, its just who I am and what I like to do.

Nature is my church. Its the thing my dad and I have most in common. Normaly, when he has to be, hes a hard-ass military (but technically not anymore... He just retired last week after 37 years of being in the service! I'm so proud of him) firefighter swat team dude who is goal oriented and fast-paced. He's always doing something, wether that be working at one of his many labor-intensive jobs, building his apartment, working in his shop, or helping out those who need him. But, when he does get a day or two off, (which is very rare) he asks me what I wanna do. The answers are almost always the same. Lets go camping. Lets go on a hike. Lets go ride our bikes somewhere. Lets go on a drive and see where the road takes us. Lets do something adventureous.

He, like me, feels a spiritual healing in nature. Where there are no cars, no people, no bullshit technology of any kind. All you can hear are the birds and your own shoes hitting the dirt, or grass, or gravel... My favorite sound ever is listening to the rushing water of a river or waterfall. We can either sit comfortably in silence warmed by the sun, or we could go on and on talking about the b.s. of constrictive religions and all of their ludacris rules... Not that I'm against religion! If it makes you happy, go for it. I know what makes me happy and I try to practice those beliefs.

So this weekend I'm going up to my dad's for a bit to try and get my permit and then we're heading up to Seattle. A bunch of my family is gathering at my aunt's house to celebrate my grandma's 70th birthday. It should be fun, but who knows. After one night up there my dad and I are ditching everyone to go explore eastern Oregon. I am so excited!

I love road trips. We're gonna go find a bunch of hot springs, and visit as many as we can in four days. We're just gonna drive around and figure out where we're gonna camp. Our goal is to find antler sheds and arrowheads. I can't wait to hit the open road. I haven't gone camping in over a year because of this damn batshit crazy year. Man, fuck 2014. 2015 will be the year. I'm counting on it.
