The HSA building is located in the very center of the city. It is the tallest building here so even if you look out a window miles away, you can't miss it. It's one of those buildings that look like it's made of glass, which it is, but the exterior is made with bullet and heat proof glass so it's almost unbreakable.
Once I made it back to the HSA, I went upstairs to the top floor and made my way to the President's office to give my report. The gray walls of the hallways and the sophisticated atmosphere always makes me feel out of place. I walk up to the big glass double doors at the end of the hallways and knock on the doors. I hear a soft "Come in" and open the doors.
Sitting there I see President McGuire in her dark blue pants suit with a white blouse and heels sitting at her black wooden desk with her assistant, Lily, on the flower filled desk next to her typing away on her computer in her pink dress suit. Both of them have their hair pulled up into tight buns. I never got the concept of looking so professional. I usually dress in oversized clothes and jeans so I stay comfortable.
The President then looks up and notices that it's me and gestures to the two red seats in front of her desk saying, "Ah Erika you made it back. Please give a full report of your mission."
I sit in the red seat and start giving information about my mission.
"There were 5 women. At the start 3 were unconscious and bruised 2 were also injured but awake. They all looked like they were being tortured and haven't eaten for days. Two men came in, one short the other taller, but both muscular. They seemed to be goons who worked for the actual boss man. Both were eliminated but I got information from the shorter man that his boss was somewhere having a meeting but they weren't informed of where. After I got the keys the ambulance took care of the 5 women and they are now getting medical attention. I let my backup team take care of the goons."
"Hm." The President pondered for a moment then looked at her assistant, "Lily, please call for a team to send them back to the location of the warehouse in case the boss of those two guards come back."
Lily then gets up to walk to the mission call room and utters a "Yes Ma'am" as she walks out of the office.
"Erika you have done enough today and I have information about a new mission that I will talk to you about tomorrow when you wake up. We will send your payment to your bank account as usual. Great work you are dismissed for the day." The President says with a nice smile on her face.
"Thanks Pres." I get out of the red chair and make my way to the double doors, "I'll see you tomorrow." I wave without looking back and make my way to my apartment placed several floors below the President's office in the HSA building.
My apartment was a decent sized studio apartment. On the left side it had a nice kitchen with an island near the front door as you walk in. Granite countertops and a crystal chandelier to complete it. In front of the kitchen was the living room. It had grey couches with light yellow pillows and a glass coffee table all laid out on a grey rug. On the right side of the apartment there was a bathroom that had a bathtub and a stand up shower and further down was the door to my room with my walk in closet being right next to it. My room wasn't much. Just had accents of grey, yellow and black. My bed is in the corner next to my desk sitting in front of a window to the city. My bookshelf full of novels and manga is on the wall opposite of my bed, a medium sized tv standing over it. And lastly there was a yellow bean bag chair on my floor on top of a fuzzy dark grey rug. A couple posters of bands and stuff on my walls but it was a simple living space considering the HSA is responsible for me and they could probably put me in a penthouse if I asked. I go into my closet and get sweats and a shirt to put on but before I do I go to take a shower and get the dirt and blood smell from the warehouse off me.
When I was first brought here I had a new babysitter every week. I was only seven but all my babysitters each taught me life skills like cooking and cleaning so that I could take care of myself. By the age of 10 I was able to live unsupervised. Since I was training and doing missions most of the day I barely even went into the apartment until dinner. One day the babysitters just stopped coming. Pres said that they might as well cancel babysitters considering I could literally assassinate people I would be able to handle living on my own.
When I come out of the shower I check the time. 8:25. It's already dark outside but I have some ramen in my cabinets. I go to boil the hot water and wait for the teapot to whistle indicating it's hot enough. I take out a cup of ramen and pour the boiled water into it and wait for the noodles to cook. While I wait I decide to look at my phone and read some news headlines but I only saw one story on any of them.
"Bayani Academy Class 101 attacked by Villian Organization House of Orphans on Training Grounds"
Bayani Academy was outside the city. It is the biggest hero training academy in the world. The top hero today went there himself. It also has business, mechanics, and coaching courses as well. Almost every hero's agency has people from Bayani Academy in it.
The House of Orphans however were people I was not fond of. The only intent they have is to get revenge on heroes because they weren't saved by them. I say that's bullcrap and instead of doing that they should let them know they need help. But I know that they are probably brainwashed into thinking heroes purposely didn't save them. The only question is by who.
The HSA has been trying to figure that out for months but can't seem to find out who the real leader is. Every time we think we got a lead on who it is, something happens that sets us on a different track. No matter what, I think those kids should be saved. I've encountered them many times and I haven't killed them because in a sense they are like me. If the HSA hadn't come to my house in time I probably would have ended up on their side.
Although I wonder how those students are doing. Even though it is a hero school, they are only first years so it must have been a traumatic experience for them. I've never been to a real school, all my education and training was done here. The only time I probably have was before the fire but I can't remember that experience. And I don't really want to. I know a lot of articles say school increases anxiety levels and bullying in school has a leading result in the cause of death for many teens. Also I just rather not be social.
After 5 minutes of scrolling reading about the Orphans looking for the current top hero, Tornado, who was currently teaching at the Bayani this year, I set my phone down and began to eat my ramen. When I'm done I go to my room and pick up this romance novel I am currently reading so I can read a bit before bed.
The main protagonist in the story is too set on her goals to realize that her love interest likes her. She seems to be set on herself before focusing on the world around her. But it also causes her to miss out on some of the joys in life. I'm so curious how it will end I can't put it down.
Hopefully it ends with them getting together cause I can't take the tension. Both like each other but every time they are close to confessing either the subject gets changed or someone interrupts. Also the boy acts like he hates her so she's contemplating whether or not to tell him or continue to focus on her own goals.
After an hour of reading I get into my bed and start to drift off to sleep in my home of the HSA.
So hope ya'll enjoyed this kind of long chapter. Next chapter is longer so stay tuned;)
I'll post more I promise anyways bye.
