yeah I know, "but you promised"
don't kill me
---
Darkness.
It's all I can see around me at the moment.
Until I see a woman.
She looks as if she is saying something but my hearing is blocked.
Is she calling me?
Oh no she fell.
Beep.
There's blood on the floor.
B-beep.
Who's that man behind her?
B-b-beep. B-b-beep. B-b-beep.
Suddenly I'm awake. I guess it was just a nightmare.
I tend to think nightmares are much better than dreams. With dreams they are always nice until you wake up and realize how you miss the fake reality you created in your head. Dreams are amazing but only when you are dreaming. Nightmares however make me feel safe and thankful when I wake up that whatever I was having a nightmare about isn't the reality I'm living in.
I've been having the same nightmare since I came to the HSA. I don't know the people in the dream or why I have them. I just know it probably has something to do with life before HSA.
I get out of my bed and check my phone. It was 8:00 am and I already got a ton of emails to get through but I'll do that later. I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I take a shower and dress in casual jeans and a hoodie to go downstairs to the second floor to get breakfast.
Downstairs breakfast was arranged with stations of bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, bagels, and basically any other breakfast food you could name. Living here at HSA is basically like a hotel. They serve free breakfast everyday. I walk over to the bar where they serve drinks.
"Morning Sam." I say to the bartender. He's old, looks about 50, but he's nice.
"Morning Miss Erika"
'I've told you a thousand times you can cut that formal bullcrap, it makes me sound like an old lady."
"And I've told you a thousand times I can't do that, it's HSA policy to treat our guests...."
"With honor and respect yes, yes I know," I finished mockingly.
I see him heating up a mug of green tea with the palm of his hand. Sam's power is called temperature. He can heat up or cool down stuff in his hands. It's a pretty cool power if you ask me but he doesn't think much of it.
He gives it to me and I thank him and start to drink. The warm sweet matcha taste. Sometimes we need that warmth in our life to make us feel complete.
I say bye to Sam and go in the elevator back up to my room. When the elevator opens, Lily is there with her curly red hair up in a ponytail and a pink cardigan with a floral pantsuit underneath. Since she is the president's assistant I talk to her a lot. She's sweet and always keeps me company when she has free time.
"Good morning Miss Eri." she says with her energetic voice. It's not the kind that makes you overwhelmed at how much energy the person has, it's the kind of voice that makes you smile back and want to keep conversations going.
"Good morning to you, Lily" I say back.
She holds out her hand and a flower grows from it. Her power is basically growing plants everywhere she touches. Everyday she grows me a new flower, today it was tulip.
