"You need to move in with your cousins for awhile until you sort yourself out."
That was the last thing my mom said to me before moving in with my primas.
"We'll give you a tour of the village tomorrow, okay?" I nodded. A woman in her early 20s took my bag and went to the kitchen
I arrived in the evening and it seems that everyone in the village were so quiet. I looked at my wristwatch. "Ah, midnight. Maybe that's why." I thought. Usually at the city, everyone is still awake by this hour. "Maybe I should start getting used to this..."
Someone with a heavy feet made a loud thud making it's way downstairs. "It's prima Y/n! I told you she's here." A petite girl, no younger than 12 came downstairs while carrying my younger primo. I smiled.
"Don't you know it's midnight? Growing kids like yourselves need to sleep to grow up big and strong." I held her hand as we went upstairs.
"Maya. You're supposed to be sleeping." Maya groaned as we went to her room. "I want to hear stories from Y/n about the city. I grabbed my primo and tucked him at the other side of the bed. He instantly fell asleep. "Poor Miguelito, you could've just left him sleeping. I'm sure your prima will tell you all what you want to know in the morning." My prima said as she tucked Maya to bed. "Okay..good night Bella" With that, we exited her room as Maya fell asleep.
"Ay kids, am I right?" Bella said as she chuckled. "Yep." you replied. Both of you went downstairs and sat at the couch in the loving room.
I handed her a folder full of documents as I looked away. I can hear Bella opening the folder and looking at numerous documents in it. The documents were hard to understand to an extent but I know my Prima can comprehend atleast to get the main idea.
I took a good look at her worried, puzzled face. She put all my documents back in the folder and gave me an embrace.
"I hope you'll be ok. Let me know if you feel an attack coming up." I nodded. "I'll leave you to settle in. You room is near the kitchen. Bella made her way upstairs while carrying the folder in hand. I felt like I'm bothering my prima with my issues. I hope it'll be better in the morning. I went to my bedroom near the kitchen. As I opened the door, I made a small prayer...maybe some sort of permission so I could enter. I feel like I'm trespassing...I know she said it's okay for me to stay in this room but what if it's not okay? It must've been hard after Tio Ramon and Tia Lydia's passing. Especially towards Maya and Miguelito.
I laid on the bed. The last time I was here , there were pictures of Tio and Tia but now everything seems so empty. Since there's nothing to do, I slept.
Timeskip to 8am
A knock on the door was loud enough to wake me up. "Prima Y/N? Bella told me to wake you up at this hour." Said Maya as she closed the door, leaving me to get ready. "Okay...give me kinse minutos niña." I said as I got up to take a bath. After bathing, I can't help but seem embarrassed towards the clothes I brought. "Would I bring a lot of attention if I wore this? Hopefully not...or would it?" I thought to myself. City outfits would make the villagers stare at awe which is not what I came here for.
"Prima? Are you almost done?" Maya said as she couldn't wait any longer. "Okay okay okay. I'm coming out." As I went out, she stared in awe. "figured."
"You look so beautiful, prima! Don't you agree,Miguel?" Miguelito stared at me and oh boy it was very awkward getting these types of attention. What more if I went outside? "Sis said you should take us outside! It would be nice to see our friends, the Madrigals again." Bella smiled as she went outside the door. "Hey wait!" I carried Miguelito as we all went outside. "I locked the door. Don't worry." Maya said as she took out her key from her pocket.
It was a very sunny day but it wasn't too hot since I brought my parasol out. "Maya, did Bella go to work?" She nodded her head. "Yep! At the flower shop. Wanna visit her?"
"Sure. I could visit her before I drop you off to the um..," I stopped at mid sentence , forgot what I was supposed to say. "the Madrigals?" Maya finished the sentence for me. "Yep!"
I put down Miguelito since he wanted to take a walk. Even though he's 4, he can surprisingly walk and or run without tripping. I closed my parasol as I entered the establishment. "Hola Bella!" She seemed busy as there was 4 customers lining up. "Let me finish these real quick." She managed to finish setting up 3 bouquets in under 20 mins. with the help of Maya giving me time to look around the shop. "This place looks so nice and smells nice too." She smiled at me. "Let me finish one more customer and then we can chit chat." She replied.
"Just a bouquet of Hydrangeas, please." A boy wearing a yellow ruana said. "Oh, well that's something you don't hear everyday. Usually people get sunflowers, roses and daisies. Who's it for?" My cousin asked. "Oh just for mi mama. Her mood lately's kinda off. Might as well cheer her up with flowers. Don't want her raining on a bright sunny day." He replied. Bella gave her a mischievous look. "Oh really? I thought your prima Isabella makes flowers, why go here?" The curly haired boy was out of words and was trying his best to make a lie but utterly failed. "We're not in good terms as of the moment." He then shape-shifted to a taller beautiful woman. "Hi I'm perfecta Isabela i can grow flowers but I won't give u one because you annoy me, Camilo." He said as he continued to mock her. I was dumb founded. Scared. Shock and confused. "Woah...what was that?" The boy shape-shifted back to his original self and noticed you. "Ah didn't mean to frighten you señorita. Just moved here?"
"That's my prima Y/n, Camilo. She just moved here last night. She's from the city." Camilo made an 'woah' sound. "I bet the city's nice." He awkwardly said. "Oh yea, speaking of which. Me and Miguelito are gonna visit I hope it's okay. Miguelito wants to play with Antonio and I wanted to visit Mirabel. I hope you guys aren't busy."
"They aren't busy much today. Since I'm going home, you guys can walk with me." Camilo said as he picked up and paid for the hydrangeas. The two kids followed him outside.
"Is that alright?" I whispered to Bella. "You can trust a Madrigal. The whole village trusts them. Btw, aren't you going?" Bella asked.
"Me? You know I don't like meeting new people especially with this." I said as I gestured at my outfit. "I just don't belong here, y'know?" She smiled. "It'll be fine."
The door of the shop opened. "Uh..señorita? The kids are waiting for you." I smiled awkwardly. "Yep...be there in a sec." He chuckled. "Alright hermosa."
"Go, the locals would be very much happy to meet you."
I started to hesitate but she pushed me outside so aggressively and I almost fell. If it wasn't for Camilo catching me, I'd get hurt. "Thanks." I said as he had a tight grip on my hand. I glared at Bella as she whispered something to Camilo. "Aww sorry bout that Y/N but go."
