"Um...are you going to tell me what you did back there? When you turned into a girl?" I asked. "Oh that. Well, the Madrigals are a special family. Each member of the family have powers and we use it to help people in the village."
My cousins are already ahead as they couldn't wait for the both of us.
"Sorry for scaring you btw." Camilo apologized as he avoided eye contact.
"It's okay, it wasn't that scary. I was more of shocked than scared. But hey, pretty cool though." I replied. "You really think so?" I nodded.
We both made our way to a colorful Casita. The tiles of the Casita moved as it was saying 'hello' "Hola Casita! This is my friend, Y/n." I was surprised and awestruck. Camilo gently nudged on my shoulder causing me to snap back to reality. "Oh! Hola Casita...May I come in?" Camilo chuckled as the tiles of the Casita dragged me inside. Camilo came rushing in. "Heyyy the Casita really likes you! That's not something I see everyday."
"Camilo is that you?" a tall ginger haired woman came downstairs as she hugged Camilo. "Mami for you." She smiled as he gave her the flowers. "Such a sweet boy, like your dad."
The tall woman immediately took notice of you and smiled. "Well hello there, are you my sweet boy's girlfriend?" I smiled uncomfortably. "MAMA!" Camilo was embarrassed but all she can do was laugh at her son's reaction. "Well meet my mama Pepa. Her gift is that she controls the weather with her mood. So...try to get into her good side." I nodded. "Mama, have you seen Antonio's friends? Maya and Miguelito? They're Y/n's cousins." Camilo asked. "I think they're at Mirabel's room. You can go later. It's lunch time. Care to join us, Y/n?"
Pepa immediately pulled both of us towards the dining room and suddenly, there's a lot of people. I sat in between Camilo and the girl with green glasses.
Woah...too many people..
My breathing got heavier as I got uncomfortable. "Y/N? Are you okay?" Camilo whispered.
Stay calm, stay calm..
"Yes yes, nothing to worry about." I smiled.
As everyone finally got seated, I saw Maya right next to the girl with green glasses and Miguelito right next with a little boy who's somewhat in the same age as him.
"Oh that's something you don't see everyday." An old lady chuckled. "Care to introduce yourself?"
All eyes were locked in mine and I could feel everyone's presence. The air was starting to get a little bit heavy as I stood up. I felt a hand touched mine gently. It was Camilo's. It made me feel calmer as he held it secretly. "I'm Y/n Abrenica and I just moved here from the city." As I said the word 'city' everyone started to ask their own questions. As I was bombarded with questions about my city life, a girl with a red ribbon covered her ears. "Hey guys, might as well keep it down for Dolores?" Camilo said as she comforted the girl on the opposite side of him. "Sorry bout that, my sister's gift...well she can hear everything."
Everyone became quiet. "Oh so you're an Abrenica? I'm good friends with them. They're always so helpful. " I awkwardly smiled again. "Oh pardon us, we haven't introduced ourselves. My name is Alma but you can call me Abuela. I guess you already met Pepa, Camilo's mother. Dolores, Camilo's eldest sister. Antonio, Dolores and Camilo's younger brother he can also talk to animals.
"Pleasure to meet you, Y/n. Are you Camilo's girlfriend?" Dolores asked as she giggled with a girl which Camilo shape-shifted into. "Dolores, Isabela, behave yourselves." As Pepa scolded the two. "Oh and where was I? Ah yes. Mirabel." The girl with green glasses responded. "Hi! I guess you're the one Maya and Miguelito can't stop talking about."
"There's Luisa, she's super strong." I looked at the tall buffed girl. "If you need help, don't hesitate to ask." I nodded. There's Bruno, he can see the future. There's Isabela who can grow plants.
There's Julieta, Mirabel, Luisa and Isabela's mother. She cooked lunch today and if you're feeling sick, just reach out. She can heal you with a meal. And the last two are Felix who's Pepa's husband and Agustin which is Julieta's husband.""I remember the city, wasn't really good. Very tiring." Agustin said. Finally, someone who I can relate with. "You said it. It can be beautiful but life there's very stressful. I think I'd like to stay here for awhile."
"Let's dig in!" Julieta said as she put food in our plates. "Forgive us, Y/n. We're not used to Camilo bringing guests the same as his age. Usually he invites children. Like Maya and Miguelito over there." Felix said as he gestured at Maya talking to Mirabel and Miguelito talking to Antonio. "Oh it's fine. Im glad all of you are so welcoming." I replied. "I hope you're not too overwhelmed. Don't want to scare you off." I giggled. "You're not scaring me off that easily."
I can still feel his hand holding mine and I blushed. "Um..Camilo, my hand? You can let go now." I whispered. He suddenly let go and I heard a squeak sound. Both of us looked at Dolores smirking at the both of us. "Did she hear?" I whispered at Camilo. "I heard." Dolores replied. Camilo facepalmed "Sis, you can make fun of me later but not now." Camilo said quietly but enough for Dolores to hear. "Okay." She replied.
There was a lot of food on the table. There was empanadas, Tostadas, enchiladas and many more. I took a bite of the enchiladas and tears began to exit my eyes. I got up "May I be excused? I'll be quick" Abuela nodded and you left.
I forgot to ask where the bathroom was and I got far away from them. I sat outside the Casita with tears falling from my eyes. Casita noticed how I was feeling and brought me tissues. "Thanks Casita..."
