Killer Past.                                                    Chapter 16, 30 Days.
                                                                                                                                                 *****
Even though the pizza looked delicious, Lane had to fight the urge of losing his stomach. He sent out a discreet text to Grace,

Lane: Hello my Love, I’m missing you.

Grace: I really miss you too. Are you alright?

Lane: No.  I’m sick to my stomach.
Grace: Why?

Lane: This date, she’s way too cocky.  I’m not sure why she is, I’m going to work hard to find out why.

Grace: Hang in there, Lane. Get her to trust you. See what she’s up to.

Lane: Thanks. I love you.

Grace: I love you too.

Lane takes a slice of pizza giving Cassandra a small, fake smile,

“So Cassandra what are you going to do now, when you’re not around me?” Cassandra smiles,

“I have experience in business. Mary is in need of an assistant, because her regular one has retired. So she hired me, so I’ll be close by.” Lane tries to not grimace,

“That’s nice.” This could be very interesting, rang in Lane’s thoughts.

“Yes it is Lane. I have a request if that’s alright?” Lane arches his brow towards Cassandra,

“well, Cassandra, what would that be?” Cassandra smiles,

“I moved into my suite, it’s beautiful and all. Is there any suites closer to your private quarters?”
Lane clears his throat uncomfortably, "Cassandra, there’s mostly offices near my quarters, the only suite next to my quarters belongs to Grace and Tammy.” Cassandra softly coughs,

“Why is that? Try to understand, the Board of Directors desire and encourage you to get close to me.”
Lane scowls  at her as their drinks are being refilled,

“And why is that Cassandra?” What do you know?” Before responding Cassandra takes a bite of pizza,

“What I know is that we were on a good path, until YOU RAN INTO GRACE!! She’s bad for you. Don’t you see that? Because the Directors see it!” Lane looks at the left over pizza,

“Tell me how Grace bad? She’s not responsible for her in laws behavior. When I met her, she was trying to get away from them.” Cassandra looks at Lane with a stoic expression,

“But they came after her!” Lane glares at her,

“To get to my riches. She’s been good to me.” Cassandra nods,

“I understand. But please know the Directors is in support of us. Lane,  give me a chance to show you., how loving me is what is best for you.” Lane scowls as he shakes his head,

“You and the Board need to remember, there are children involved.” Cassandra gives Lane a puzzled look,

“Yes, we all know she’s pregnant, and you adopted her son. But that can be cured by you two co-parenting, that’s all. Plus you’ll need to focus on our children when we have them. Grace and these children will fade away. Let Lex care for them. That way Grace will be family to you, But NOT YOUR WIFE!!” Lane couldn’t believe his ears,
