"Today's the day...." She sighed, fidgeting with her earpiece. "You're going to do great!" said the young woman on the other side. Audrey Baker was a light skinned woman with dark hair and a very charming smile. She loved order, so much so that she couldn't stand to see anything go wrong on Elizabeth and her Fiancé's special public ceremony. Elders and persons of all races and sizes were taking their seats in front of the podium. "You ready?" she sighed breathing a little and fixing his tie. "Not one bit but we can do it together." He smiled, caressing her hand. She giggled a bit and pecked his forehead . They both looked behind the curtains to see who was there. "Alright, we're ready to get this in order." Audrey said. "Alright... I think we're on now, remember to smile and wave." She reminded herself. Elizabeth walked out waving and smiling, hurting her cheeks. Her fiancé was gripped to her arm and terrified you might say. He smiled nervously, which the paparazzi took to mean his silly sweet love for his Fiancé. Paparazzi I tell you! They both took their stance at the podium. A few pictures were taken and finally the news stations arrived. "The Scuttle Times" "Tv AMZ" and many others. Once everyone had taken their seats, the ceremony began. It started off with Elizabeth welcoming everyone to the ceremony. "Welcome everyone! I'd like to welcome special guests and everyone who has decided to make it here today. I'd like to answer your questions truthfully and respectfully
"Good Morning and Welcome everyone to the media conference. Thank you so much for attending. First Question?"
"Princess! When are you both marrying?"
" November 14th. And a recap of the Wedding Ball, held January 14th is in the papers I believe?" she asked, tilting her head to her fiancé.
"Yes. For those Royals viewing from different Countries, Invitations to the Ball and Wedding will be delivered On October 21st for the latest."
"Thanks for that."
"What about Princess Elizabeth's thoughts on your relationship?"
"I ughh-"she stuttered.
"Well (she blushed) I love how he can cheer me up in an instant, he makes me laugh and I love him for that. He's willing to give me space when I need it. He basically completes my life"
Holden blushed and scratched the back of his head in disbelief. "I love that-"he started
Just then, something happened. The mics were no longer working, and an eerie mist covered the room. Elizabeth tapped the mic, trying to see if it would work.... But it didn't. They all coughed and coughed, smoke filling the room more and more. It was a disaster, and soon everyone was running out in fear. After the fog cleared, Audrey came running in, with her thin, short little self and in her clanky heels. "What happened back there?" she asked looking up at both of them. "I don't know –"Elizabeth sighed. "Wait - What's that." Holden asked, picking up a piece of paper, addressed to Elizabeth's name. "It's addressed to you, Liz." He said. She took it from his hand.
"Dear Elizabeth." It read. "This is for you."
"Hello, Dear. You may not know who I am but you can address me as Mr. D. You are in great danger! You and Holden, and everyone around you! They're coming for you!"
There was a static at the end and then a dead silence. They all looked at each other. "These can't be true, right? Who even is Mr. D!" Elizabeth exclaimed. "I have no idea but we should listen to him."
"Darling. I know more about the Spy World than you. I know that you can't trust any and everybody. What if he's not who he thinks he is? I don't want us to get hurt." A tear rolled down her eye. Holden kissed her and removed the tear from her cheek. "I love you and I know you just want to protect everyone but sometimes you have to trust people." He hugged her.
"I know..." she said. "You coming?" he asked her. "Nah, I'll stay here for a bit..." she answered smiling at him. "Alright."
Elizabeth looked at the piece of paper again but this time, she saw something else in the envelope. It read "Meet me at the club, downtown, 7 pm. Don't be late." She looked around, she couldn't tell anyone about this. They'd worry about her too much. She took out her phone from her purse and called her fiancé. "Hey. I uhm... I'm kinda gonna be staying out a bit late... is that alright... Don't tell anyone alright. If Dad and Mum ask, just tell them I went to bed early..." "Ok, Liz. Are you sure everything's ok-" he asked. "Uhhhh – Yeah, of course. Nothing to be worried about. I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I love you." "Love you too."
"Alright – Let's see if we can get a cab. No one can recognize me."
She walked for a little while until she saw a cab. It stopped and she stepped in. "Where to, miss?" he asked her with a gruff voice. "The Extreme High Club, please." They drove for a while until they arrived to the spot. She closed the cab door and stood in front of the club. She opened the doors, walking in. "You're not from around here?" a man asked. "I am." She answered stiffly. "Who you lookin for?" he asked again. "Do you know a Mr. D?" Elizabeth asked. "We only knows a Ms. D here. She's right around there. In the back..."
She walked to the back, to see a young woman. "Who are you! And what do you want with my family!"
"I'm more familiar than you think, Liz." The woman removed her hood, and it was Desiree. "Sorry I put you through this..... I just – I know that you don't trust me.... So you wouldn't listen to me...."
"Desiree! It's great to see you again!" Elizabeth embraced her for a long while.
"But, Desiree, I need to know.... Do you have something to do with the mysterious happenings this morning? The fog and the mics not working?"
"Of course, I don't. I'm an agent in the union, why would I have anything to do with that –"
"Ok then, just checking..... But why did you have to send such an ominous warning?"
"Well – Being apart of the Union gave me access to all the info -"
"I am seriously confused..."
"The International Spies' Union. We track down every trace of the EESU and VCORP."
"VCORP –"
"Let's just say you missed A LOT since 5 years."
"Hm, true. You can't deny that –"
"I have to ask– How old is your spy suit.... Did u get it redone or anything?"
"Uhhh – I guess it's five years old why?"
"NO! That is terrible. I cannot have you wearing anything that ancient."
"Ancient-" she cut her short
"Liz, you know I'm the Head of the Design firm right. I am not gonna let you wear something like that. I can get you nice and up to date. Even for free but what I want to make clear is you will not be wearing that old Egyptian thing in front of my eyes!"
"Alright – alright I get it. Sheesh – and enough with the insults already. It's not that old –"
"Anyway - Here's my card." She handed Elizabeth a card "D's Designs" she read aloud.
"I'm guessing this is a part of the Union huh?"
"Yeah – It is..." Desiree answered, simultaneously checking her watch.
"It's 8 pm! Already! I have to go! Meet me tomorrow? Same time.... Just a different location – I'll text you the address! Bye!" Desiree yelled as she began to run away, trying to get her jacket onto herself.
Elizabeth batted her eyelids and shook her head, laughing a little. She looked up, as a drop of rain fell from the sky. She covered her head with her jacket and waited for a cab. 30 minutes passed and by that time, she was fast asleep.
*Unknown POV*
There she was. She looked more innocent than they had told us. I laughed. "Pathetic" I snapped a few pictures of her asleep and then dashed into an ally running into someone. "Axel!" I cried. "You scared me." I yelled at him. "Pftt. A top spy afraid of her own brother. Pathetic!" He laughed. "Stop it bro. You're gonna get us caught!"
