Kairi rushed her way to find her friends, not minding pushing past people. Especially when that person was redheaded with freckles and staring her down like he wanted to burn her for witchcraft. Or... something else.
She never knew his personal problem with her. Hers had logic and reasoning. He was just petty. She didn't need his validation about anything though. Not everyone had to like her and definitely not Fezco.
She pushed past another body before reaching the top of the steps. Moving past Fezco she stopped and paused. It was probably the small drink she had or her ongoing hate for him that made her stop. Either way if she had a Time Machine she would've kept walking until she hit a wall.
"What's your problem?" After saying it Kairi was already a little mad. Step one was admitting you had a problem but by the look on Fezcos face he was going to keep glaring at her and pretend that he never had one. Which was stupid.
He was at this party probably drinking some Gatorade for no reason. And to top it off he was glaring at her the usual way. As if he wanted to have her assassinated and wanted to be the one to pull the trigger. It was annoying.
Even more when his deep voice cut through her like a sharp knife. Every time his voice was gentle and his words rude.
"I don't have a problem." Fez answered immediately as Kairi laughed to herself.
"Then why do I have 15 daggers in my back every time I go somewhere? It's like you're trying to murder me just with your looks." Kairi explained the obvious. Fezcos eyes jumped realizing that she saw him stare but then he went back to being nonchalant.
"I don't do that." He lied and then added, "You don't know nothin about me.." Fezco said firmly. Behind his voice she could hear sincerity but it was mostly him trying to make a point.
"What'sthereto know? You sell drugs." Kairi said, the words slipping out before she could hold onto them. Fuck? Did I just say that?
Fezcos lips twisted into a deep frown. "Yeah I guess I do.." He didn't have much to say. She could tell that if he opened his mouth again he might but he never did at that point.
Dammit. She didn't mean to upset him at all, "No I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that. Honestly..." she apologized with her chest as Fez looked up with a hint of thoughtfulness. She thought she saw a smirk but it disappeared too quickly for her to tell.
"It's cool.. I know how you cheerleaders be." Fezco laugh at himself before singing lowly, "Be aggressive! B-Be aggressive!" He threw a fist up dramatically, keeping his voice low.
Kairi laughed out loud at the joke but then bitting her lip to hold it in. She could feel him watching her from the side of the room. She could feel she did something wrong. But it was funny, she didn't know he made jokes at all. It was funnier because Kairi hated cheerleading but he must've assumed that she liked it because of her friends.
"You could be a cheerleader if you tried, I see some real potential.." Kairi complimented as Fezco gave her a small smile, finally. She thought it would never happen.
"yeah I'd look better in a skirt." Kairi threw out another huge laugh, not holding it back this time. Fez looked at her again with a stillness and it just felt.. right. The moment suddenly passed as they realized they weren't cool and Maddy appeared behind her.
"Hey babe I've been looking everywhere in this party for you. Let's dance." She said excitedly already pulling her hand down the steps and to the first floor where she lost sight of patient and caring look on Fezcos face.
