Elias' POV

It's been two weeks since my date with Ryder.

Two weeks of secretly spending time with my mate, getting to know him more, while keeping it hidden from my pack.

"Are you ready for the party tomorrow night?" Kai asks beside me excitedly.

I shrug back at him, still watching the teacher demonstrate something on the whiteboard, while Kai ignores the class completely. Kai only turns up to class for attendance but that's as far as his willingness to learn and interact with the human world goes, unless it involves a party or to sleep around.

In his defence, he believes as the future delta there is no need to study hard to achieve good grades when he's not aiming to get a human career in the long run.

Unfortunately for him, he still needs to attend high school and graduate before becoming delta, along with the pack training and learning we both have to do for our futures in the pack.

"Come on," Kai whines, "aren't you excited to get drunk and hook up with girls."

I look over to my best friend, finally giving him the attention he's begging for. "I'm not really interested in getting with anyone," I tell him honestly.

Kai's face drops, as if he can't believe what he's hearing. "But you always hook up with someone!"

In all fairness, that used to be true so I can't blame him for being so shocked. But since I can't tell him that I found my mate and would never cheat on him, I just shrug again and repeat I'm no longer interested.

"You're so weird," Kai responds. "Anyways, I already know who I'm getting with," he winks at a long blonde hair girl with brown eyes across the room who giggles.

I start to feel bad for Kai's future mate, especially if they already know him, because there's no doubts Kai hasn't already slept with the entire schools female population.

"I hope you use a condom," I tell him.

He looks back at me as if I'm crazy, "of course I use protection, who do you take me for," he scoffs as I roll my eyes. Thankful Kai at least cares enough to not catch anything and get a girl pregnant.

My phone buzzes in my pocket, making me pull it out to see a message from Ryder.

I respond back, while Kai is distracted by flirting across the room to his newest girl.

"That's the end of class everyone," the teacher announces as the bell rings in the background. I collect my things while Kai stands up, not having anything to pack up, before leaving the classroom.

"I'm so hungry, I wonder if they've got any doughnuts," Kai hums to himself as we walk towards my locker to drop off my stuff.

"You can go ahead, I need to check on my of my teachers about my work," I tell Kai who nods.

"Cool, I'll just tell Silas you'll be back later," Kai responses before walking off towards the canteen, in hopes of getting a doughnut.

I close my locker before walking off in the direction Ryder and I have been secretly meeting in a empty classroom.

Immediately after closing the door behind me, I'm being trapped between the closed door and my mate who's pulled me into a bear hug. I hug my mate back, as the pain in my chest settles after being away from him since yesterday.
