Y/N's POV:
Standing before the mirror, the parlour maid's words of praise echoed in my mind, mingling with the anticipation and nerves that danced within me. Tonight held the promise of a new chapter, one where Thor and I would publicly declare our love for each other. Yet, beneath the excitement, a nagging worry lingered, fueled by the persistent rumors that swirled through the palace corridors.
*It is the day,* I reminded myself, taking a steadying breath. *The day we make it official.*
The silver pin nestled in my hair bun sparkled under the soft glow of the room's lights, a testament to the care and attention to detail that had gone into preparing for this moment. As I glanced at my reflection, adorned in the midnight blue gown Thor had commissioned, a sense of pride swelled within me. *He had it made,* I thought, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. *For us.*
But even as excitement coursed through my veins, the whispers outside my door served as a harsh reminder of the challenges we faced. The rumors of a connection between Prince Loki and me had grown louder, more insistent, casting a shadow over what should have been I mused bitterly, frustration gnawing at my insides. It seemed no matter where I turned, the whispers followed, like shadows in the corners of my mind.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration. Despite knowing the truth—that there was nothing between Prince Loki and me—the whispers persisted, a constant reminder of the challenges we faced.*It's infuriating,* I thought, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. *Nothing is going on with Loki, yet the rumors won't stop.*
It was true. While Loki and I shared a cordial relationship, our interactions were limited to formal meetings and occasional conversations during training sessions. There was never anything more between us than mutual respect and friendship, yet somehow, those simple interactions had been twisted and distorted into something more sinister.
*Who could have spread such lies?* I wondered, frustration bubbling within me. *And why?*
The truth was, I didn't have the answers. All I knew was that the rumors had created an invisible barrier between Loki and me, a barrier that made it difficult to engage in anything beyond polite conversation. It was as if every word spoken between us was scrutinized, every gesture analyzed for hidden meaning.
And so, we kept our distance, our interactions limited to the formalities required of us as members of the royal court. There were no stolen glances, no secret rendezvous—only the cold, hard truth that we were both victims of a scandal we had not created.
Yet, amid the doubts and uncertainty, one thing remained steadfast—the love I shared with Thor. His presence filled the room with warmth and reassurance, his hand reaching out to brush against mine, a silent vow of support and solidarity.
As I looked into his eyes, the intensity of our connection washed over me, banishing the doubts and fears that had threatened to consume me. *Tonight,* I thought, a surge of determination filling me, *tonight, we will show them the truth.*
With a final glance in the mirror, I straightened my shoulders and stepped forward, ready to face whatever lay ahead. For in Thor's embrace, I found strength, and in our love, I found courage. And no matter what the rumors whispered or the doubts insinuated, I knew that together, we could weather any storm.
