The Mix was packed. Bodies lingered outside, some smoking, some queuing to get in and some drunkenly calling for taxis.
Luckily for the group, Harry knew Dave, the bouncer, quite well. They fist bumped before Dave ushered them all in.
Just as it was outside, the room was pretty full. The dance floor filled with sweaty, drunken bodies and plenty of people pushed up against the bar ordering their drinks.
"What's everybody having?!" El shouted over the music.
She took note of everybody's orders and then headed off to the bar. Erin watched her as she oozed confidence. She definitely commanded a room, this was evident when the crowd of people at the bar parted to let her through.
"We'll she's a character!" Becca yelled into Erin's ear.
"If that's what you wanna call her. She seems nice though!"
"Nice? Try to sound more convincing... E." Becca choked on a laugh at the use of El's nickname.
Erin rolled her eyes before glancing around the room.
Liza had very quickly ended up on the dance floor, with no one in particular though. She didn't need a dance partner. She swayed and bopped to the music. Erin smiled to herself as she watched one of her best friends have the time of her life.
Izzy and Ryan were off to the side, chatting with two guys that Erin assumed they knew quite well.
Harry was also off to the side chatting with some guy. Erin didn't recognise him but it seemed like Harry knew him quite well. She could see him laugh at something the guy had said and her mind flashed back to the night they met.
*Erin sipped on her drink as her eyes scanned around the dark and musky room, until they landed on a guy stood at the bar.
He was propped up by his elbow which allowed her to see his ring covered hand. The other in his jacket pocket, but she could see he had tattoos that disappeared underneath his sleeve.
He looked so familiar but yet she couldn't quite place him. Maybe it was the drinks and countless number of shots she'd had.
He seemed to be in deep conversation with the guy in front of him. That was until he focused his gaze on her.
Erin quickly looked elsewhere but glanced back again and saw he had a smirk on his face, she couldn't help but smile. It was bugging her that she couldn't figure out where she knew him from though.*
"C'mon E. Let's go dance." Becca brought Erin back to reality.
"Use that nickname one more time!"
Just as Becca went to reply, El returned with everyone's drinks but also a tray of shots.
"Drink up ladies! Where's everyone?" She yelled.
"Uhh... kind of all over the place." Becca laughed.
El shrugged.
"Ah well... more for us!" She grinned before downing one of the shots and then another two in quick succession.
Becca followed suit, grimacing at the taste.
Erin hesitated but the voice in her head yelled at her to stop thinking and to just do it.
Let go Erin. Stop being so safe and take more risks. Like you used to. Like it was with him.
Erin shook away the thoughts of her and Harry and downed the shots like a champ.
