"Can we bypass the date thing for a second?! You've got a relationship to save!" Becca yelled as she started up her car and Erin jumped into the passenger seat.
"No we cannot! Since when did you start dating?!" Erin exclaimed. She yanked her seatbelt but it got stuck.
"Erin for the love of... what have I told you?! You've gotta be gentle with Petunia." Becca reached over and pulled the seatbelt for her.
"You're right. Sorry. And sorry Petunia." Erin patted the dashboard softly.
"Thank you." Becca smirked over at her.
A silence fell between them before Erin got curious again.
"Are you seriously not gonna explain it to me? Do I even get to know who this 'date' is?" Erin whined.
"All in due time my friend. I promise. For now you need to get back your man. I promise I'll call you later and tell you everything." Becca held out her pinky.
It was a gesture they'd done since they were at school. Although, not for many years now. Erin was confused why this had suddenly resurfaced but linked her own pinky in habit.
"I don't even know where he'll be." Erin huffed, leaning back in the seat and crossing her arms.
"I think I've got an idea." Becca smirked slightly before pulling out of the space.
They drove a few miles before Erin started to see familiar ground.
It was this ground where Harry and herself had first connected. This ground that Harry had brought and repurposed so other people could enjoy it. He was incredibly sweet like that.
Becca pulled up and switched off the car. The two of them sat in silence until Becca took a breath.
"Go." She smiled.
"Pardon?"
"You heard me. Go. Go find him." Becca continued to smile.
That smile. She knows something. She hasn't told me the whole truth has she?
"Becca what's going on?" Erin trembled slightly.
Becca reached over and placed her hand over Erin's.
"It'll all make sense I promise. And I'll explain everything okay? You just need to go. Go find him talk it out. It's going to be a lot and you'll need to process it all. You trust me?" Becca was calm. Wanting to reassure her best friend.
"More than anyone." Erin felt tears begin to form.
"And I you. This is one of those moments that you have to lean into that trust and have blind faith in me okay?"
"Okay? Becca I'm scared. What's happening?" Erin cried.
"I know you are. I'm scared too but you know what I'm not scared of? Love. I love you. And we all know you love Harry and by god does he love you. Please just hear him out okay?" Becca leaned in closer and hugged her.
"I don't understand... I..." Erin mumbled into Becca's body before being pushed away.
"Don't think just go. Get out of Petunia before she kicks you out herself." Becca joked now, wiping away a tear.
Erin chuckled, undoing her seatbelt and climbing out of the car. She left the car door open to look back at her best friend.
"Go be happy Erin. I've seen you at so many moments in your life. The good, the bad and... well the sheer terrifying. Don't let the assholes of your past dictate what you do now. They are rotting in a cell for what they did."
