ONE
past (2005-2009)
They teased Zayn.
"Haha! Look at him!"
Because he was a different color.
"Ew! He's like a bruised banana!"
He hated them.
So much.
They'd taunt him and tease him until he couldn't take it anymore. They'd make up songs about him. They excluded him. They tripped him, they hit him, they abused him to no end.
Zayn hated them.
They thought it was funny. They'd say it was just banter. They laughed because his father left, they laughed because his sister died, they laughed because Zayn and his mother had no home.
Zayn. Hated. Them.
And it wasn't a petty hate. It was the hate where you wished you knew where they lived so you could hurt them when they least expected it. It was a monsterous hate. The hate where he imagined all of his peers slowly dying one by one. Suffering through the pain. It was the hate where he wouldn't mind if one of them were thrown out on the streets like he was. He wouldn't sympathize with them. He'd want them to have it worse.
Zayn hated them.
It was too much for a primary school student to endure. The teachers didn't care. It was only "child's play." They saw what the kids put Zayn through. Yet they didn't do anything about it.
Zayn hated them too.
He was given up for adoption at the age of ten. He finally got away from those cruel kids.
The orphanage was no better.
He was still a different color. He was smaller than the rest, shier than the rest, not as smart as the rest. He assumed they'd help him because they were all without parents.
He was wrong.
The boys in his dorm abused him, in more ways than he ever thought possible. He cried himself to sleep. It was never easy.
Zayn hated them.
Then Louis came into the picture. Zayn was eleven, Louis was twelve.
Louis came with his parents one day.
"I want the coolest boy you've got!" he had said. The owner didn't lead them to Zayn. She lead them to the smarter kids who abused Zayn.
But Louis saw him. And Louis definitely thought he was the coolest boy they had.
So they took Zayn home with them.
Zayn loved them.
