present day (2015)

Zayn couldn't describe how happy he has been these past few years. He has a happy family, he has a brother who is also his best friend, people at school aren't so bad. The feeling is like being on a high. For years. And if he ever were to come down from that high he doesn't know what he would do.

Louis treats him as if he was never adopted. It's like he was born into this family. They go on vacations, they eat dinner, they watch movies, all together. Zayn never had this with his old family. It was only him and his mom, they were poor. She couldn't get a job. They wouldn't hire a woman with a mental disability. At first, Zayn thought she hated him - because why else would she give him up for adoption? But she really just wanted a better life for him. Zayn understood that now.

He wants to see her again someday, though. Tell her about his new life, she'd be happy. He knows it.

The people who used to bully Zayn are completely forgotten. He hasn't seen any of them since he was away from the orphanage, he wishes he could have gotten revenge on them, but it's not that important.

If he were going to get revenge on them, how would he do it? Some silly prank wouldn't have cut it. And he wasn't fond of the idea of being jailed for murder so that was out of the question. So he decided to just forget about it. They've probably forgotten about him.

Well he was forgetting about it. Was.

One day in history class he was reading about old criminals in America, as assigned, and he came across one that interested him.

Lizzie Borden.

August 4, 1892, both of Lizzie's parents were found dead in their home. They had both been hit with an ax several times. Lizzie was the only other person home that day, she was automatically a suspect. She was trailed. She went to jail. Only to be freed months later, due the fact that there was no solid proof of her committing the murder.

"Today, most Americans remember the story of Lizzie Borden through a popular rhyme:

Lizzie Borden took an ax
She gave her mother forty whacks
And when she saw what she had done
She gave her father forty-one.

Although the rhyme is inaccurate in the number of times each parent was hit, it still gives a vivid image of what happened."

Zayn's fear was getting caught if he were to commit a murder. But this idea wouldn't get him caught.

Because the case was never solved.

"There is a boy his name is Zayn
He is not completely sane
He heard the story of those whacks
and went to buy himself an ax."
