At one point, this had been posted without my permission here on Wattpad. I assure you, I am the rightful author of this heartbreaking fic. Hopefully, with it being posted here, no one will attempt to steal it as their own.

Y/N winced at the slightest of movements. The pain that radiated through her as she attempted to get comfortable in her current circumstance had made it difficult for her to pull the air into her lungs. Her nerve endings felt on fire as the poison continued to pump through her body. With each passing second, all she wanted was for someone, anyone to either find her and save her or just to be killed to have the pain stop.

After living for a little over a millennium, Y/N has been subjected to different forms of pain during the course of her life. Loss, betrayal, and hurt had all been known to her like the back of her hand. It came with the territory of being married to Elijah Mikaelson and being as close to his family as she was. The vow of Always and Forever came with its own share of complications.

But Y/N had never hated her family for what she may have experienced during her time with or without them. But in that very moment as she laid on the floor of the old abandoned house in the middle of the woods, she wanted nothing more than to say goodbye to the vow and let whatever darkness that was close by to consume her.

Any other time she'd fight like hell to get out of any situation she may have found herself in. It was never like her to give up and not want to get back to her family, to her husband. But in that moment as the venom pumped through her veins with every beat of her heart, she knew in her heart and in the depths of her soul that there was no way out of this one.

Y/N knew that while Elijah and his siblings would stop at nothing to get her back safe and sound, this was different. The hollow wasn't like any other enemies that they had faced before. The power they had witnessed had proved that several times within the last several days. The Hollow wasn't something they could face without a lot of help and a lot of power.

The first several hours Y/N had tried everything she could possibly do to remove the wooden stake from her back. Removing it was becoming impossible. Any time she had her fingers within reach, the slightest touch sent a surge of pain through her. If not the pain, she managed to dig it further into her back. In the one case where she felt it ease up, it was only for a matter of seconds before the Hollow was at her side, ensuring that it stayed in place.

But as the minutes turned into hours, she was beginning to give up. The fight she had within her had been slowly diminishing. Every hopeful thought she had of Elijah or the others finding her before her death had begun to evaporate. Her mind no longer wanting to fight and accept the death that would be inevitable. That the unknown darkness would be immensely better than the pain she was currently in.

The sound of the footsteps approaching had caused Y/N's head to lift slightly. The sweat pouring down her forehead glistened in the candle light as the Hollow stepped closer to her. While in the body of Sofya, the Hollow betrayed her trust and it was how she ended up where she was now. Looking at the Hollow now, Y/N had given her a slight glare. The slightest will to live returning at the sight of her.

"Even after your spirit has begun to break, you still are hopeful." The Hollow crouched down, just outside of the barrier surrounding Y/N. For even she knew that if she had taken one step within the boundaries, Y/N would have easily taken control of the situation. For the circle she was bound to was keeping her weakened, more than what the poison was doing to her.

"Being hopeful that your death will be long and painful gives me the will to want to get out of here just to see it happen." It was barely above a whisper. How she managed to get the words out without struggling had surprised her. "I've accepted that there is a chance that I may not make it out of here alive. My family will come and they will stop you. But the damage has already been done and I will die happy if I can watch you suffer."
