If there was ever one thing that you had learned in the last few months, ice cream was apparently your unborn child's craving. Out of everything else you craved, ice cream was a constant. Though you couldn't find a single complaint seeing as it was your favorite flavor that you were always wanting.
Tonight was just as bad. The five gallon tub that Elijah had recently bought had been gone since yesterday. While that didn't usually bother you, it was now now almost one in the morning and your brain couldn't seem to focus on sleep without the craving being satisfied.
Sitting up in bed, you reached over and placed a hand on Elijah's arm shaking slightly. He had been sleeping peacefully next to you. While you hated to wake him up because you simply wanted ice cream, he had told you time and again to do just that.
"'Lijah." You said softly as you shook him again.
A bit startled, Elijah sat up. "Is everything okay?"
You chuckled softly. "Yeah, we're fine. But your daughter currently wants ice cream. I tried ignoring it but its making it hard to sleep."
A smile pulled at Elijah's lips as he shook his head before leaning over and kissing you softly. "Is there anything else this child of mine is wanting?" He asked as he placed a hand on your stomach, right over the protruding bump of a foot pressing out.
"Nope." You said as you gently bumped your nose against his. "Just ice cream. Though if she makes any last minute menu changes I'll let you know."
He laughed as moved down to kiss your belly, right where the foot was. It caused the baby to adjust herself, pressing her foot out more as if to tell her father to get a move on.
"Alright, I'm going." He said with a smile and got up and out of bed.
"Go to the market that's open 24 hours." You said as you watched him grab a shirt and pull it over his head. "For some reason their ice cream taste better."
Elijah nodded as he took in her instruction. "I'll be back in ten minutes."
"I'll be here." You said as you watched him walk out of the room.
So maybe it wasn't ten minutes that he was gone. It was a little bit more but the craving was still there, if not stronger. But you waited patiently as you laid in bed, reading your favorite book. The sound of Elijah walking into the room was what pulled your eyes away from the pages of the book.
"Yes!" You said with a grin as you reached for the spoon and container. Tossing the lid off onto the night stand next to you, you dug the spoon in quickly and brought it up to your mouth.
While Elijah had seen kids get excited over ice cream before, he enjoyed seeing you get excited about the dairy product he had handed over to you. It made him love you even more.
"I love you, you know that?" You said just before putting a full spoonful into your mouth. A satisfied moan passed your lips as the flavors of the ice cream hit your taste buds.
Elijah chuckled as he sat down next to you. "Are you talking to me or your ice cream?"
You smiled and shook your head slightly as you dug the spoon into the container. "Maybe more the ice cream in this moment, but I will always love you more."
"Good." He said with a small smirk on his lips. "I doubt a container of ice cream can keep you happy for long."
You rolled your eyes slightly as you took another spoonful of ice cream. "I don't know. If I had a freezer full of this ice cream, I'd be pretty satisfied." She joked.
"I think that's enough ice cream for you." He said as he moved to take the ice cream away from you in a playful manner.
You moved the ice cream out of his reach. "Touch my ice cream Elijah Mikaelson and you'll be sleeping on the couch."
He laughed and leaned over you to kiss you softly. "You'll eventually forget about the ice cream."
You hummed as you nodded in agreement. "But that is not now. Your distractions wont work on me."
"I don't need to distract you." He said as he moved across the bed to get to his side before sitting up against the head board. "We both know, you'll only get about halfway through that."
"Is that a challenge Mikaelson?" You asked with a raised brow.
He shrugged, a smirk pulling at his lips. "It's not a challenge when it is a habit of yours." He watched you place another spoonful into your mouth.
"Don't doubt me when it comes to my ice cream." You said shaking your head slightly.
"If you actually finish that container of ice cream tonight, you get to name her whatever it is you wish without me reject your choices." He said with shrug.
"And if I don't?" You asked with a raised brow.
"We'll stick to the plan of me choosing her first name and you choosing her middle name."
You tapped the ice cream container with the spoon as you thought about it. "Deal."
Unfortunately, Elijah had been right and you hadn't been able to finish the container. You had become distracted with an entirely different craving that Elijah was more than willing to help satisfy.
