Arriving home after disappearing for a week, Y/N hears her mother's voice by the door of her bedroom. She turns to look at the tired lady who smiles with tears. Y/N soften at the sight of her mother and quickly rush to her side.
Her mother engulfs her into a tight hug.
"Mother!" Y/N sobs in regression.
"I'm so sorry my dear Y/N. Mother was wrong. I shouldn't have forced you. I've spoken to your father and we've come to an agreement with Hannie's parents already." She smiles at her dear daughter who had on a curious look in her eyes yet something of disappointment lingers behind them. Her mother smiles.
"You and Jisung don't have to get married anymore. You're free." Y/N blink.
"What...what do you mean? You mean Han and I don't need to..."
"We've come to a conclusion and we understand that yes although we may be close friends just because we are close that doesn't apply to you guys. Guys may marry who you like as long as you two promise to not hurt one another." Her mother caresses her face lovingly in comfort. Y/N nodded in understanding.
"Which means Jisung we can still be friends..." Her voice trails off. But you guys are friends, idiot, she mentally told herself but then suddenly something else was gnawing at her.
Y/N don't know what it is though.
"That's good news then..." She mumbles to her mother but the way she had said that wasn't a happy one either.
Something...something was bothering her again. The marriage was always weighing down on her. Now that it has been lifted somehow she's not happy either.
What is wrong with you, Y/N.
Make up your mind...
"That means Jisung can finally go to the girl he loves." Y/N murmurs underneath her breath. She felt like a thousand needles had penetrated her all at once. Her heartaches.
"What's wrong, my dear?" A small tear trickled down the young lady's face and her mother quickly hug her, protectively.
"My child...what's wrong, hmm?"
Y/N shakes in discomfort.
"I'm fine," She softly chokes into a sob. Her mother carefully comforts her as she let her daughter let everything she's been holding in for so long out. Although the weight is gone why does she feel like she is missing something?
An empty void.
A part of her heart feels empty.
Why?
Why does she feel like this when everything is okay now?
"Somewhere far away until I find somebody to fill the empty void that you've taken away from me since my birth," She recalled those words she had said to her mother since the day she take off for a run.
Then that's when she found him again.
Han Jisung...out of all people she had to run to...to fill her empty void that day. She thought it was due to her personal instinct to go to him but why him?
She parted with him long ago so why run back?
Because he is the one that will fill the empty part of her heart.
"Y/N..." Her mother soothes her softly in her bedroom as she softly lay in bed by her mother. The woman can tell something was not right with her child and she was patient enough to wait, to listen.
"Mother...how much do you and Father love each other?" What a strange question her mother would think, to hear her child ask during a time like now.
Her mother sighs deeply and smiles, "As much as we love you, Y/N. You're our answer...should that be enough of?" Y/N hum in response.
"You betroth us because you guys were very close to his parents too, right?"
Her mother nodded, "We were four close friends who group up alongside one another so we thought why not let our children become friends and become like us too. Maybe then they won't have to experience such a hard love relationship. They wouldn't have to struggle with outsiders as long as they have one another...that's what we thought at first but we never knew that it was not what you guys had wanted."
Y/N listens to her explanations and sighs in understanding, "I get it now..." Her mother looks down at her and smiles.
"Is that so? Well then tell me, Y/N." said her mother, "What is making you suddenly so sad?"
Y/N carefully grabs her mother's hand and sighs, she sniffs back the coming tears again as her mother wipes away the escaped ones.
"Mom..." Y/N sobs, "I think Jisung likes somebody else...I don't think he likes me anymore." Her mother's eyes widen.
"What do you mean? I thought he..." Her mother stops talking as Y/N speaks again.
"We're not even friends anymore ever since my eighteenth birthday," Y/N sobs, "I think he hates me now."
Her mother cooes her softly again as she lets out the hidden pain of her heart. Her mother sighs deeply and carefully combs through Y/N's hair in comfort.
"Y/N I'm sure you heard wrong...Jisung he..." Her mother carefully pulls her daughter closer to her, "Han Jisung loves you more than anybody else, that I know. My dear why don't you speak to him. I'm sure he didn't tell you." Y/N hum softly as she slowly drifts into a deep sleep after letting out her built-up frustration.
Who would've known that despite all of her fight against the arranged marriage, Y/N has been fighting against her feelings all those times? In hopes of not losing her friend, she had to persuade both of them that it was not going to happen yet they've come so far already. It was too late, to begin with.

The next following week came before Jisung could even settle down with the news from his parents he had already heard the doorbell ring. Quickly he walks over to check on the visitor. His heart beats rapidly.
Was Y/N here to tell him the good news?
He gulps down the hard lump in his throat and takes a deep breath.
"Hold yourself together Jisung...You prepare for this already." He mumbles to himself and carefully, opens the door, revealing the same girl of his dream, dressed in a pink overall with a soft look in her eyes.
He inhales a deep breath and smiles.
"What brings you---"
"I need to talk to you. It's very important." Jisung blinks at her sudden demand but something behind those eyes of hers makes Jisung soft.
He nodded without another thought.
Y/N quickly enters the house as usual and Jisung takes a whiff of her spring perfume that she will always wear.
"First I need to ask you a serious question."
Jisung nodded again, unsure of where everything is going.
Y/N takes a deep breath.
"Are we even considered as friends at this rate?"
---
Okay, why does this seems more angst than fluff....?
I'm so terrible.
It's supposed to be happy. SMH.
