Greg didn't realize how depressing his life at Waystar was, without Rose. Ever since he showed up at Logan's birthday and met her, he's spent every day after thinking about her. When would be the next Roy gathering he could find his way into, when was the next time she'd be in the office for him to "run into" her. Constantly playing back their interactions in his head. Where did he go wrong? Was it his fault she left? Would she come back? If she did would she even still be interested? Despite the borderline abusive work environment he had being around the Roys, the job wasn't all bad. Especially now, it kept him busy. From the shareholder fiasco- to picking the next president at some secretive convention, being kept overwhelmed and over worked helped him not wallow in sadness. Because the last thing Greg wanted was for someone to notice and put the pieces together. Although, it wasn't likely considering the Roys never really noticed anything but themselves. But he loves Rose so much and would never do anything to risk putting her career or position in jeopardy.

So when Greg was invited to Kendall's 40th Birthday extravaganza this would be yet another good distraction from reality. Reality being that it had been about 3 months now...she had been gone. Based on the fragments of information he'd gotten from the family she'd never been gone this long, or at least this long without contact. Apparently at 14 after Logan had made her go to boarding school she "disappeared" to Connor's ranch for 6 months. Got broken up with at 17 and wasn't heard from for a month, off in the Bahamas. Was this time going to be 6 months, or a year, or would she completely move countries never to be heard from again?

At least Greg was getting good news on the cruises front. No one was going to jail. Not Logan, or Tom, or Greg himself. In fact this was how Tom introduced himself to everyone at Kendall's party that night.

"Hello, Tom Wambsgans, not going to prison!" Tom announced to Greg, shaking his hand with a huge smile across his face.

"Gregory Hirsch, also not going to prison, pleased to meet you," Greg joked back.

Tom: Hey i heard Ken's PR girl was lookin for you?

Greg: oh, Comfrey?

Tom: Yeah i heard she's got a little crush on you, sailor *Tom lightly punches Greg's arm*

Greg: oh i donno, she seems like a nice person...

Tom: Nice? She's like a goddess- she's way out of your league anyway man *Tom laughs*

Greg: Cmon man, she not out of my legaue? Iv'e pulled better anyway-

Greg realizes he shouldn't have said that

Tom: Ohhh reeeeally? Sure man i don't believe you for a second. You're like a 9 foot Cro-Magnon man.

Greg: Okay, well how'd you get Shiv? She's way out of you're league.

Tom: AH testy Greg, lets go get a drink before this gets heated.

They laugh and venture further into the party. Each room being a different corner of Kendall's twisted fantasies or childhood or both, full of blasting music, and techno colored lights.

Later on in one of these strange room, specifically the one modeled after Kendall's office but its surrounded by fire, Greg runs into Comfrey.

Comfrey: Oh hey! I'm glad i ran into you.

Greg: oh- yeah um same here

Comfrey: because, i hate to be saying this but, i might have to brief the press against you...

Greg: oh? um why exactly?

Comfrey: Yeah just Kendall's really going balls-to-the-wall and you know, you're on the other team

Greg: well that fucking sucks

Comfrey: actually its kind of funny because before, um, Kendall wanted me to do this i was actually going to ask you if you wanted to grab a drink sometime

Greg: oh- um- thats really nice of you...

Comfrey: So?

Greg: well, actually, i kind of just got out of- or i don't know- out of or like maybe still in a relationship, ah.. but um...

Tom interrupts and asks for a moment with Greg, dragging him away from that cringe-fest

Greg: Tom are you okay?

Tom: Yes, I'm okay why do you keep asking?

Greg: well i just like haven't seen you smile in like 16 hours

They stroll along chatting and make their way into "the complement tunnel." Which is lined with vines and flowers dripping from floor to ceiling, with shimmering glowing lights covering it. But every few step their is a person with their head poking through the leaves and lights to give compliments, hence the name.

"You're Amazing!"

Tom: Yes, I am amazing.

Greg: This is very strange...

"You're full of grace!"

Tom: Greg i feel like you used to seem happier. I feel like i used to be happier too?

Greg: oh, um maybe yeah?

Tom: Its like we took the wrong drugs in the wrong order, and now we cant get happy.

Greg: well you could be happy that you're free?

Tom: Maybe.

Greg: Here's to being happier? *He raises his drink*

"You are just wonderful!"

Tom: [to the worker] oh fuck off!

Kendall's party, like pretty much every Roy event, ended disastrously. With Roman assaulting Kendall, who in return accosted his siblings and multiple other people. With Ken, Rome, and Shiv's mother getting married in a few weeks- and tensions being at an all time high for the siblings. It sounds like another recipe for disaster.
