I finally figured out what to pack after day of getting nowhere, I just threw my latest load of laundry into a bag, since I found them nice enough to wear last week, I can wear them again. No decision making needed.
As the time has gone by this past week, I have found that focusing on how exciting it is to finally be attending the academy - which I've been waiting to get into since I was old enough to keep the secret - helps me feel less nervous about the unknown part of starting here and less anxious about it finally coming to be. (Although, it's not too difficult to hide your family's powers when you don't have them to demonstrate as proof to others). The wait has finally ended and my Dad is ready to teleport me to my dorm and this new chapter of my life.

Athena wasn't exaggerating! Our room is huge! Especially considering its a dorm, which is typically very tiny. It's kind of like an apartment. There's even a couch in the corner (that will be very thoroughly cleaned before I ever touch it). My Dad looks around and sets my bags on the vacant bed: Athena has already chosen her side of the room. He says, "You're going to do well here Jo. I'm really proud of you for having so much patience while you were awaiting your power. It's going to be nice having a telepath in the family- especially during charades on game nights. Good luck kiddo. I love you."
With those last words and a small smile, he disappears, teleporting back home I assume. I'm a little offended he didn't hug me goodbye, but I'm 100% sure he was holding back tears. He's a crier. No matter, I'm sure I'll see him soon for that hug. He's honestly the best dad.
Memories aside, I need to unpack a bit and go find Athena so we can celebrate our amazing room and head to orientation together. I'm glad I don't have to be alone in this.
