Chapter 37

We walked hands in hands together to the ball, with each step nearing I grew more nervous. Cruz rubbed small circles at the back of my hand with his thumb, I tilted my head to look at him and smile. Somehow, he always knew how to soothe me, I squeezed his hands back in return, giving him small smile. 

His face lighten up seeing my smile, even though we were both ready for this, for what was to come, we were still nervous. However, the thought of being in his arms, not afraid to hide from the world anymore, give me a confidence boost. 

As we walked the dark hallway, Cruz pulled me to the walls, his frame pinned mine, I watched his eyes and the dimly lit room. Cruz leaned in and captured my lips, I quickly kissed him back, putting my hand in his hair, his hands held down my waist to stop me from moving. 

A few moments after he pulled back,  breathing in, his breath fanning over my neck, he pulled away, resting his forehead against mine. Cruz looked into my eyes, 

"Now, I'm ready," He managed to get out in between his breath. I smiled at him, cupping his face with my right hand, I removed the lipstick stains from his mouth. 

"So am I," I bit my lips. 

"I love you, Veronica," He mumbled softly, just for my ears and my heart to be happy. 

"uhmmm," our heads turned around when we heard someone clear their throat. 

"Hurry up, brother, they are waiting for you," Bella said, "Keep all of this for later," She smirked, "Veronica, you look gorgeous," she smiled at me, to which I returned one back. 

Cruz looked at me one last time pecking my lips before leaving, I grabbed his hand pulled him towards me, kissing him hard one last time before pulling away, biting my lips, "let's do this," I whispered. Cruz gave me one of his billion dollars smiles and went away with his sister not before winking at me. my insides went crazy. 

I took a deep breath, taming my racing heart rate, rearranged my dress, and walked down the hallway. I stopped for a moment looking around at the door, I found Cruz watching me intensely. I could tell what he was thinking about, he was waiting for the moment when he would be able to hold me in front of everyone, kiss me to show the world who I belong to and who he belongs to. 

I broke eye contact, smiling at Bella and then Ace. My eyes met Candice, she gave me a hopeful nod with a small smile, I smiled back at her. she was such a sweet lady, I just wish she is able to find love in this world, both for her and her baby, she has been through a lot lately. Her hand laid across from her belly, in some sort of protectiveness. I could tell she will be a great mother already. 

I walked inside taking a flute of champagne, tonight was not for drinking, I needed to be sober to see what would go down tonight. Ace came to me just as Cruz walked to the stage, my eyes only focused on him. 

"Are you nervous?" Ace asked, 

"I am," I said truthfully, "but I need your brother's arms around me more than being nervous,"

I watched Cruz talk, I couldn't hear a word he was saying, he was in control of everyone's attention at that moment, I loved that, he looked so hot, Cruz's eyes met mine for a moment before he continued speaking. I knew he felt everything I was feeling at that moment. 

"Now would be a good time to scare mother, sister in law, go claim him," Ace encouraged, I quickly turn my head to him in horror, 

"I mean what do you have to lose," Ace continued. 

with adrenaline running through my veins, I walked towards Cruz, as I neared him, he locked his eyes on mine, I ran into his arms, pulled him towards me, and closed the space with my lips on his, he seemed shocked for a moment, but as soon as he was able to understand what was going on, he kissed me back with the same hunger, his hands went to my ass squeezing him, I moaned in his mouth, circling my arms around his neck pulling him closer.
