Amanda stood in the doorway of her lovely peach and teal 3 bedroom 2 bathroom home, excitedly waving as Mona pulled in.

Amanda had long strawberry blonde hair that hit the middle of her back, greyish blue eyes, and stood at 5,7.

Her and Mona had been instant besties since the third grade. During the middle of their third grade year, they both moved to the same projects and happened to start Roger Perry Elementary on the same day.

Roger Perry Elementary was a predominately black school and due to Mona's dollar store clothing and Amanda being white, they were both teased and rejected becoming friends by default.

When Mona started boosting, she was suddenly swarmed with fake wannabe friends, but Mona's loyalty always stayed with the one who was there from the very start. Amanda.

"Hey girl," Mona sang as she rushed into her friends embrace. The two hugged for about thirty seconds feeling comforted by each other's presence.

Amanda also had it ruff growing up. Her Mom was hooked on crack for as long as she could remember and died of an overdose on Amanda's eighteenth birthday. Despite her addiction, she still somehow maintained a $250,000 life insurance policy which was enough for Amanda to purchase her first home. A home even nicer than the one she grew up in.

"Do you need help carrying anything in," Amanda asked as she directed her attention back to the car.

"No, I'll get it later. I really need to just sit for a bit," Mona replied.

Amanda nodded and then began to make her way to the living room as Mona followed.

Amanda's house was very nicely put together. In her living room she had a 75" flat screen tv that sat over a cute electric fireplace, a cream sofa with a teal and brown accent chair, and she finished the room off with zebra décor.

"Impressive," Mona stated, as she took it all in.
Being that Mona boosted for a living, Amanda always was dressed to impress despite her previous living conditions, but she never actually had any real money.

Mona was slightly curious about how Amanda came to afford everything on a Supermarket salary but decided that it wasn't a good time for prowling.

"I can't believe he did that to you," Amanda said as she observed a bruise on Mona's forehead.

Mona looked away in shame.

"Do you have any wine?" Mona finally asked.  Amanda was taken aback by the question and tried to avoid eye contact as her eyes began to tear up.

"What's wrong?" Mona quizzed as Amanda broke down into tears.

Amanda was always overly cheerful and witnessing her breakdown for the first time had Mona baffled. She knew that Amanda couldn't be that upset by what Jaquavious had done to her so something really bad had to have went down. Amanda buried her head into Mona's shoulder as she sobbed uncontrollably.

She felt vile, classless, and embarrassed by her actions. She had been sleeping with a married man blinded by monetary gestures, and she now had to lay in the bed that she had made for herself.

Amanda pulled away and decided that it was time to face the music. She looked away in shame as she revealed to Mona that she had been sleeping with a married man and that man was the mayor. Mona swallowed her spit not knowing how to respond.

"I'm  pregnant," Amanda added as tears started to roll down her face again. Mona leaned in for a hug but Amanda pulled away this time looking her directly into her eyes.

"$20,000," Amanda revealed.

"Huh?" Mona asked.

"That's how much it will cost to sell my soul," Amanda stated.
