I woke up with a heavy weight on my stomach. I looked down and saw Oberyn had fallen asleep with his head resting on it. I gently stroked his hair, sighing in satisfaction as I remembered the events from yesterday.
Surely, Chris would never bother me again. Not while I had Oberyn around.
I ran my finger down the bridge of his nose, then traced his lips. He was devilishly handsome, I'll give him that. The way he spoke was as if he was from a million years ago. I stroked his cheek until he finally woke up.
"Good morning, love." I said with a small smile, mimicking his endless pet-names.
He sat up, rubbing his eyes. "How are you feeling? Are you okay?"
I nodded. "Thank you for taking care of me."
"Well, I am your... what did you call it? Boyfriend?"
"Yes."
I ruffled his hair. "Well, I'm sure you're hungry, your highness."
He nodded, standing up. "What are you making?"
I scoffed as I sat up. "What am I making? I'm not your servant."
"Well, I've never cooked before."
"I'll teach you." I said as he followed me downstairs. We reached the kitchen and I opened the freezer.
"This is really simple, I'm awful at cooking." I pulled out a box of frozen waffles.
"Ah, you have some sort of ice chest? In the wall?"
I nodded. "It keeps all the cold food cold."
Oberyn stuck his hand into the freezer. "Amazing."
I held the box up, stealing his attention from the freezer.
"These." I pointed to the box. "Are life changing. Make sure to close the freezer."
I walked over to the toaster over and made a show of sticking two of the waffles into it. "Pull this switch down and wait."
"Wait for what?"
"You'll hear a noise that sounds like a little bell."
He reached out towards the toaster but I swatted his hand away. "No!"
He pouted.
"That's hot, it will burn you."
Finally, the toaster dinged. I carefully took out the waffles and placed them on two plates.
"That smells so good!" He said, impressed. "You are a wonderful cook."
I laughed. "Thank you very much."
I walked over to the cabinet and grabbed some syrup. "Now, you pour some of this onto the waffles and it tastes really good."
I handed the jug to him and motioned towards the waffles. "Go ahead."
He gently poured some of the syrup onto them. I was impressed, I genuinely thought he was going to end up spilling it everywhere.
"Great job."
I took the plates and walked over to the dining table. It felt empty without Chris, the house felt silent.
"This is a very small table."
"Yeah, well there was only two people living here. Oh, hold on." I stood up and walked to the silverware drawer, getting forks for us.
"At last, something I recognize." He said as I handed the fork to him.
I looked at him, waiting.
"What?"
"C'mon, try it." I said, motioning towards the plate.
