"I don't have much money, but I know where to get some." I said, leading Oberyn upstairs.

Chris had a little box in his bedside table drawer where he kept emergency funds, aka a bunch of cash.

"Dammit!" I yelled, slamming my fist against the table.

Oberyn immediately grabbed my hand, pressing his lips to it and massaging it lightly. "What's wrong, my beloved? Don't hurt yourself."

"There's a lock on this stupid box." I said, showing him it.

"Not to worry." Oberyn pulled a dagger about the side of my forearm out from literally nowhere.

I jumped back, startled. "Where the hell did you get that?"

"I always have a weapon on me, sweet princess."

"Why didn't you just use that against Chris?"

"I wanted him to feel slow, blunt pain. Death by dagger was too painless for him." He said, nonchalantly.

"I will never understand you." I said, shaking my head.

"I could say the same thing."

"Whatever. How exactly do you intend on opening the box?"

He grabbed the box from me and started picking the lock with his dagger. I watched in awe as it easily clicked open. He handed it back to me with a smirk. "You can thank me later."

I swatted him away, careful to avoid the dagger."Thank you, Oberyn." I opened the box and smiled. "Perfect."

There was about a million dollars in this box. Chris was so selfish to keep it all to himself to spend on God knows what. I took out a thousand dollars and showed it to him.

"This will be enough for today. We'll save the rest for later."

...

I grabbed my coat from the coat hanger and slipped on my shoes.

"Let me just go upstairs and grab the staff." Oberyn said, heading towards the stairs.

"No, Oberyn you don't need a weapon."

He turned to me with a concerned, confused look on his face. "What if your past lover comes back?"

"He can't do anything to me in public. We're okay. Besides, you have the dagger. Do NOT let anyone see that, by the way."

Oberyn sighed reluctantly, then followed me out the door.

"Chris took the car, we were going to have to walk."

"Not a problem, I am quite fond of walking."

"That makes one of us." I muttered as I began putting on my coat.

Oberyn stopped me, brushing his fingers against my bicep. It sent chills all over my skin. I looked at him, but his face was full of sadness and concern.

"What's wrong?"

He tried to smile at me. "That man will never hurt you again, I swear it."

I placed my hand on his cheek. "I trust you. I trust you, Oberyn Martell."

He kissed my forehead, then held me tightly against himself, pressing my cheek to his chest. He rubbed my back soothingly.

"Alright, let's get going." I said, grabbing my keys from the hook by the door.

...

"Those things are cars. The thing you heard Chris leave in."

"What exactly is it?" Oberyn asked as cars zoomed past us.
