THE NEXT DAY, MIGUEL WAS DREADING facing Mona at the dojo.
He felt terrible for kissing Mona, especially when he wasn't even sure if she felt the same way.
So Miguel did something he definitely shouldn't have done. He went to Johnny for advice.
They were the only ones at the dojo, since it was still early. Miguel walked into Johnny's office.
"Sensei?"
Johnny looked up from his computer. "Yeah?"
Miguel hesitated. "...I need some advice."
A smirk started to form on Johnny's face.
"It's about a girl, isn't it?"
Miguel sighed, dropping his head. "Yeah. Yeah, it is. I just– I think I screwed up."
Johnny narrowed his eyes. "Is this about LaRusso?"
He shook his head. "Uh, no. It's actually about..." Miguel dithered, not wanting to say it.
"It's about Mona."
Johnny started to laugh. "I knew it."
Miguel rolled his eyes, continuing, "Anyway, last night, I kinda... kissed her. And then she just– left. And I'm not really sure how to fix our relationship now."
Johnny sat back in his chair, thinking. He tapped his chin in silence.
"Here's what you gotta do. Pretend like you moved on. Flirt with another girl, then sit back and watch her get jealous."
Miguel frowned. "Uh, no offense Sensei, but I'm not sure if that'll work–"
"Trust me," Johnny cut him off. "Works every time."
Miguel wasn't sure he trusted that, but his desperation was telling him to give it a try.
The other students began to arrive, Mona included. She walked in, making eye contact with Miguel for a split-second before walking to the back.
He watched her longingly, until someone clapped a hand on his shoulder and drew him out of his thoughts.
