MONA WAS QUICKLY BECOMING A popular person in the Valley.
She put her shoes back on after the lesson was dismissed. Aisha, Hawk and Miguel came walking up to her.
"Where'd you learn to do that?" Miguel asked.
Mona looked up at them, a smile forming on her face. "Learn to do what?"
"Karate," he replied. "You're good."
She smirked, deflecting his question. "Thanks."
Hawk cut in before she could escape their pestering. "Seriously, where'd you learn it?"
Mona raised her shoulders, feigning innocence.
"What, so I'm not allowed to know karate? Is Cobra Kai the only way I'm supposed to learn?"
Miguel and Hawk exchanged a look. Mona laughed under her breath, walking past them.
"I'll see you guys tomorrow. Oh, and by the way–" She looked pointedly at Miguel, "I thought your rule was to strike first?"
Aisha was the only one who laughed.
Though Mona wished she could stay and see the dumbfounded looks on Hawk and Miguel's faces, she had to be getting home. She didn't want to risk Billy getting there before her.
Mona made it home before him, going to her room to shower and change clothes. She hoped she could go out again tonight.
For the rest of the day, Mona had nothing to do. Once Billy got home, Mona walked out of her room to try and convince him to go out for dinner.
"Hey dad," she said in an unusually chipper voice as she walked in the kitchen, throwing Billy off.
He turned to her as he set his things down. "Hey sweetheart," Billy greeted. "How was your day?"
Mona shrugged, leaning against the kitchen counter. "Eh. Boring."
Billy laughed a bit. "Boring huh? I'm sorry. But hey, maybe you could go hang out with your new friends at the beach or something."
Or something. Mona glanced away, nodding.
She had to bring up karate eventually, because if Mona wanted to be in Cobra Kai she had to pay. And she couldn't just steal money from her dad. She wouldn't stoop that low.
