Laurence's POV:

I pull out of the driveway of my moms bungalow style house and make my way out of the city, heading towards a small, quiet town in Kansas. The drive there is about 12 hours without stopping so I'll have to stop and rest half way through. Once I hit the highway there's nothing to do but get lost in thought and I find it hard to keep my mind from replaying how I left my mom and sisters..

"I can't stay here anymore! Everywhere is a reminder of her, everything I do reminds me of her. I can't make myself stay here anymore."

"Where are you going to go huh?! You don't have anywhere else, anyone else. We're your only family left, Laurence!" Tears of sadness or anger, I don't know, dampen her cheeks, I hate seeing my mother cry.

"Don't you think I know that?! I know damn well that leaving means I have no one. But maybe thats what I need. I don't want to be stuck in this fucking city anymore mom! I can't continue to live like this."

"Laurence please.." She pleads, but I hold my hand up, silencing her.

"Mom I appreciate you letting me live here while I got my shit together, but I'm 26 years old, it's about time I move on. I found a cute little home being rented out for pretty cheap in Kansas, you guys can come visit whenever you want once I get settled. But I won't be staying here anymore." Before I gave her a chance to speak I grabbed my duffel bag full of the essentials and walked out the door.

I groan and slap the top of my steering wheel, "this is gonna be a long ride" I mumble under my breath.

---

13 hours and 42 minutes later I pull into the driveway of my new home and wait for the lady who has the keys to show up and allow me entrance. She messages me and tells me it'll be about an hour before she can get to me. Fucking great, I guess I'll search for a place to eat around here. I pull out my phone and look up restaurants in the area, the first place that pops up is this cute little diner called 'Mama's burgers'. I pull up the directions and make my way there.

The parking lot is packed with cars, some too old to look like they should even be running and some that looked too new to be in this area. I pulled into the closest parking spot and cut the engine. It's really busy for it only being 3 o'clock. I walk inside and immediately find out why, it's filled with teenagers all wearing different variations of the same thing, which is what I'm assuming to be the schools nearby uniform.

"Hey dear, welcome in." I turn my attention to the short, black women standing in front of me. "I haven't seen you around here before, you new in town?" I just smile and nod at her.

"Well in that case, I'm Mama. The bar is open for anyone and if you can find a place to sit in the dinning area be my guest. But good luck, these kids have all the spots basically reserved."

"Got it." I laugh and follow her to the bar.

"Would you like a coffee?" She offers.

"Sure, black please."

"Got it dear." She turns away messing with the coffee pot, I pull out my phone and start mindlessly scrolling, I only look up from my phone when I hear the bell above the door ring. A group of girls walk through the door, all dressed in the same school uniform. The first a blonde with too big of tits for her skinny frame and one too many buttons on her shirt undone, her skirt obviously rolled up around her really small waist. You can definitely tell she's trying too hard, but it's the girl behind her that catches my attention. She's wearing the same uniform, blue and white plaid skirt with a white button down shirt and a matching vest. She's curvier than the blonde and the uniform does her good, hugging her in all the right places and to pull it all together she's wearing white knee high socks with a pair of black high top converse. I'm visibly checking her out, I know I shouldn't, she's obviously still a teenager but I find myself not being able to look away.
