But why?

The bell finally rings for lunch, that whole class I couldn't focus on anyone besides tanner staring at Audrey the whole period. I think I missed a few things to take a note of during class. I pick up all of my equipment and walk towards the cafeteria where I see Zoe waiting in line. I join her and we wait for our food patiently. As soon as we get our food we get seated at our usual table, then our conversation starts. "So how was maths?" Zoe asks "it was ok, Tanner was just staring at Audrey the whole time" I reply while rolling my eyes. A mask of jealousy covers Zoe's face but I Ignore it. Then I just simply change the topic "so, I'm excited for ice skating" "yeah me too" zoe states. She looks a bit unsure of what she's saying. As I'm getting up to go to my locker, I spot Tanner and his friend group. I had just realised that they were sitting right beside us. Oh no Tanner must have heard everything I said about him staring at Audrey, but tanners one of the nice people, right? He wouldn't bring it up, I doubt it.

After lunch it's usually home room time. I'll talk to Tanner then about ice skating.

The bell rings and I close my locker shut and walk towards the room. I take my seat and soon enough Tanner Makes his way to the room and sits beside me. I hesitate to ask him instantly because I'm an overthinking. What if he thinks I have a crush on him? Or what if he thinks I'm asking him out? The whole period, we just talk about general things like school and hobbies. The fact about ice skating completely slipped off my mind and the bell rang for last period.

I decided it was the best thing, as him and I are not that close at the moment. Maybe when we're good friends I can ask him to hangout.

I reached the room for last period first and took my seat. Tanner sat close to me but not entirely beside me. The lesson starts and this time I actually take notes. I'm glad that Audrey wasn't in this class.

It was finally the end of the day, meaning it was time for ice skating yay. Actually not yay. Zoe hasn't exactly been acting 'normal today' she's been acting as if she's hiding something from me and trust me, I know her extremely well. I hope ice skating goes ok. I'm getting qualms.

Since it's a cold place, I decide to wear jeans and a grey jumper, which is very warm. I get into my mums car and she drives me to the ice skating rink.

I enter the ice skating rink and a cold breeze hits my face. I see Zoe and the other renting their skates and I join them. "Hey Zoe" "hey jessie" "are you ok?" I ask hesitantly. "Yeah I'm fine" I know she's not fine, happiness doesn't seem to exist on her face anymore. I hate seeing Zoe's face so down.

We all enter the rink and I take Zoe aside. "Zoe dont lie to me, I know your hiding something" "fine, I can't hold it in anymore I'll tell you" "go on" "I like Tanner"

Tanner?
Tanner?

Out of 200 guys in the school, Tanner?

"I'm so sorry jessie, I didn't mean to like him, it just..happened"

"It's ok zoe, I don't blame you" I reply sadly.

She knew I like Tanner but why?
