23-1

The music arrived at its coda, succeeded by the never-ending shouting. Pollux took the noise as an opportunity to regain some energy and compose themselves.

"Thank you!" June articulated, "That was All of the Stars by Ed Sheeran, we hope you liked it!"

He attended to the viewers while his band members mouthed to each other. Every now and then, someone from the crowd would scream a name or a phrase—June would let out a bashful smile whenever directed at him.

"Once again, we're Pollux, and it's a pleasure to perform in front of all of you once again!" He removed the capo from the fretboard and clamped it onto the guitar's headstock. "My name is June." He raised his arm, keeping his lips near the microphone. "Please give me a moment to show off my friends to all of you," he requested, turning to Ronin. "Our lead guitarist, Ronin Remorca, who was responsible for that killer solo."

Ronin enthusiastically waved both of his arms in the air to acknowledge the cheers.

"Cyril Zamora, the bassist who keeps us all together."

June pointed at Cyril, who barely reacted to the introduction and affirmations.

"On the drums, probably the most talented out of all of us, Keith Quintos."

Keith executed a short drum fill before raising the drumsticks in the air.

"And finally, I would like to introduce to you the newest member of Pollux. Please give it up for Amber De Fe!"

Amber went between covering her lips and giving the onlookers tiny waves of the fingers. She was the one to receive the loudest cheers, considering her extraordinary performance a few minutes ago. It may have seemed deafening because I was also doing my part in bellowing my lungs out, putting my focus away from the persistent emotions.

"Amber~!!! You're amazin'~!!!"

It felt like my cry overpowered everything else. Be that as it may, there was no sense of pride. I did not see myself as some sort of winner for having the most powerful voice—I can't even use it to tell him I feel.

This assumption was confirmed when Amber looked in my direction, and I hopped and waved at her. My actions were reciprocated by a dynamic gesture of her own and an ear-to-ear smile.

"Oh my god... she saw me..." I whispered, evoking my chest to tighten.

"Ahahaha. Is she a celebrity to you?" Andy tapped the back of my shoulders.

"You can say that... She's really shinin' today..."

"Before we run out of time, we're going to perform our last song for all of you. This piece is about cherishing your life while you're still young. Seeing as all of us are in high school, we thought this song was appropriate not just for all of you, but for ourselves as well."

June kept his eyes in front of him, the words imparting in an elegant flow. Whenever he is on that stage, he changes.

He truly changed.

"It's about avoiding regrets as much as possible. If you want to do something at this very moment, then go ahead. In the end, we are all just tiny specks of dust in a vast galaxy. Are we not allowed to indulge in our curiosity to explore it? Make the best out of your time, while it's still easy to. How about we make the best out of this moment together? I hope you enjoy this second song."

June gazed at the figures close to him, checking their preparedness. He strummed the metal strings without wasting any time, the rich sound of an acoustic guitar resonating throughout the venue. The relaxed intro was constructed by the minimalistic strumming pattern and non-changing chord.
