I had frozen in complete confusion, the girl staring up at me with pure terror in her eyes. The familiar revving of a car in the distance started to crescendo, and the little girl yanked me by my sleeve to crouch down in the field, dropping her basket of flower petal looking things, she'd been tossing..
"Are you who I think you are?" she whispered, staring into my eyes. my eyes have always been my favorite feature. They were a dark blue, almost purple, with flecks and swirls of every color, almost like a galaxy.
"Yes." she said. "You have the eyes. Where is the other?"
"The other what?" I ask, not understanding a word coming out of her mouth.
"The boy. The boy has the eyes too. Can you find him?"
"What's his name?" I say, thinking, you've gotta give me some more information.
"He goes by, Alex I believe. He's my brother. They took him away."
I just nodded. I knew exactly who she was talking about. Alex Talson had a crush on me. He'd asked me out before, so this was going to be awkward.
"You have to!" said the girl, like she could read my mind. "You have to save us all!" she begged, "Now GO!"
I slowly stood up, not taking my eyes off her, and I just sprinted off into the distance, not looking back even once. She'd told me what I didn't want to know. Somehow, the universe had put it in my and Alex's hands to save civilization.forever
