Smart And Smarter

Y/N (POV)

Leo and I walk over to Adam and Bree, Leo finally looks up from his progress report when Bree approaches us "Hey, guys. What's that?" she points towards the paper.

"My progress report. I can't believe my science teacher says I'm always late to class." Leo whines

Adam turns around towards us "Well, you are always late to class."

"I know that, but I don't need it publicized," Leo comments while I walk over and lace my fingers with Adams.

Chase runs from the cafeteria over to us "Look at this! An "A-minus"! I knew my Home Ec teacher had it out for me. Always criticizing my muffins."

Adam pulls out his progress report and waves it around "Ha-ha! I beat you! I got a D-plus! Plus because I'm better!"

I shake my head and rub Adam's arm comforting as Bree speaks "Adam, the "plus" is-- You know what? It's just not even worth it anymore."

"D is not a good grade, but we don't really expect you to get good grades. I'm engineered to be the smartest person on the planet, and I just got an A-minus. I've been relegated to into the huddled, unwashed masses of minuses, like you!" Chase pouts

Bree crosses her arms "Chase, I know this must be hard for you, but, I mean, look at the bright side-- seeing you fall flat on your face is really fun for us!"

Chase shakes his head and walks towards a bench to sit on "I have got to find a way to reclaim my superiority."

"Well, you could sign up for the Student of the Semester competition," Leo suggests

Chase turns over quickly to Leo "What's that?"

I decide to take over and explain"Every semester, kids compete to see who can best improve the school. Whoever gets the most votes wins free pencils, a bumper sticker, and a cheesy picture of himself on the wall!"

"And that cheesy picture will show everyone that my brilliance reigns supreme! I am so gonna win!" Chase gets up all exited

Adam hops up and down grabbing ahold of me "I call your free pencils! No, wait, I'll take the cheesy picture. Oh gosh, they both sound so good!"

The bell then rings and Chase and Adam look at each other "Race ya!" I chuckle to myself as Adam lets go of me and runs off with his brother.

The next day Adam, Bree, Leo, and I were in the hallway standing at the end of the stairwell when Chase walked up to us and hands us his business card "Hey! What do you think?" Chase hands them his business card.

Leo looks at the card "What do I think, or what's appropriate to say to your face?"

Bree takes ahold of the card " "Chase the dream"? Please do not give these to anyone I might want to become friends with."

"I've got a whole plan. Check it out. I even linked the latest facial recognition software to the school database to create a laser automated attendance system." Chase tells us.

We all walk over to the entrance to see Andrew coming through the door. The machine then starts to speak in Chase's voice  "Andrew Lamb has been late three days in a row."

Chase points over to the principal office "Straight to the principal's office, Andy." Chase smiles and turns to us "He'll thank me later for putting him on the right path."

Adam walks over to Chase "Oh, dude, you're never gonna win with that. Kids want fun stuff like jacuzzis in math class and hallways paved with candy. Ooh, and I also think biology would be a lot more fun if we could juggle the frogs before we dissected them."
