"Margot, you going to class?" Lexie opened the door to her secret spot, her black hair always looked wet but not in a way that would seem greasy, it just looked like wet from raindrops that had dripped onto her skull. Her skirt was always rolled up that it barely covered anything, her fishnet tights had holes in them that looked like she had been running in a forest for hours.
"Hm, no. I'm going home after this cigarette." Margot responded while pouting her lips to inhale the smoke even better. Margot's parents didn't care about her going home early anymore. In the beginning they did but Margot just assumed they gave up after not convincing her to go back.
"Aw, I thought you would stay until lunch at least." Lexie sighed, Margot was Lexie's best friend but Lexie wasn't Margot's best friend. Lexie would always joke about being the 2nd choice but in reality she was the 5th or 6th choice even.
"I heard Jonah is selling some pills at lunch, if you want some for the party." Lexie said trying to convince her friend to stay. She held her front door with her left hand while her right hand was by her side. Margot's face lit up, pills? It had been a while since she did that. Well 43 hours and 29 minutes and 40 seconds to be exact.
"You sure?" Margot turned her head, facing Lexie. Lexie quickly nodded before heading inside. Margot threw her cigarette on the ground, stepped on it to make the flame disappear and walked inside again.
3 months and 10 days before - the day of the party
Charlie went through his clothes. What do you wear to a party? he wondered. He had never been to one, not even a kids party. He wasn't popular at his last schools, he was a loner at his old schools to be exact.
"Can't wear this." he said to almost every clothing item he picked up. Too uncool, too cool, too dirty, too clean, none of the shirts were perfect. He picked up a simple black tee and decided it will do, he had to do his hair before going to the party.
In teen movies, the guy always has so much gel in his hair that it looks like it hasn't been washed in days. Charlie didn't have hair gel but water would do. He tilted his head into the water and held it there for around 8 seconds before lifting his head. The water drops from his head dropped down onto his shirt leaving water stains, whatever he said. He combed through his hair.
It was pretty hard to style it wet but he wanted it to look good. This was his best shot at making friends. He almost danced downstairs, his mom saw him and chuckled.
"Where are you going, Charlie?" she kept chuckling while stuffing skinny pop into her mouth. She put the bag down on the couch and walked towards him.
"To a party." he answered, his mom touched his dripping wet hair and laughed a bit more.
"With wet hair? Let me get you a towel." she said heading to the bathroom.
"I don't have time for this! I will back tonight bye!" he rushed out of the door, having soaked hair made his entire head freeze. It was going to be alright, at least he looked good he reminded himself as he walked towards Margot's house.
He could hear the music from the outside as he carefully knocked on her door. A smiling Margot opened the door, wow he thought to himself. The way that her body looked in the sparkly black dress really blushed his cheeks. He couldn't stop looking.
"Charlie! You're here, and your hair!" she looked up at his hair. He knew she was going to like it, she let him into her house. He walked inside and wow it really looked like those movies. Everything from the red cups to the people riding on each others shoulders and people jumping instead of dancing.
Margot handed him a red cup with some type of alcoholic liquid in it. It was happening, he was having his first drink. He put his mouth up to the red plastic cup and lifted the cup up. Ow it was burning his throat, he started coughing.
"You alright?" she said while clapping on his back like his mom always did when he was younger. He was a choker, he choked on everything from animal crackers to ice pops.
"Yes." he insisted while still coughing. He took another sip of the strong liquid, this time it went better. Margot smiled at him before walking towards the crowd of jumping people and started jumping up and down just like them. Charlie followed her lead and did the same. Typical party music was playing in the background, he yelled the lyrics just like everyone else even though he had never heard the songs before.
