Lillian gently set Sergei on the ground, and shakily stood. Charis picked Lillian up. Hefting her thighs up to his waist. Then started to descend the 500-step climb downward. This time however his hands shook against her. Probably from using all his strength to push the light.Lillian held on tighter to Charis. She leaned into him. "You sure I not heavy?" She pressed. "Yes, I promise, you're super light. My hands shake though. Can't help it." They shrugged. "Does it make you uncomfortable?" He asked taking the last few steps. "Why would make me uncomfortable?" She questioned.
"Most human women would think this was 'very inappropriate'." They scoffed. "Plus, I don't want you to think you will fall."
"Oh..." Lillian blinked. "That's silly." Lillian judged. Not understanding why touching women would consider that a no-go. "..Alright," he shook his head. Letting her down onto the floor. "I'm going to go grab some water and head back up."
"You're going back up?" Lillian reiterated disappointedly. "Yes, I have to keep the light up. I'm sorry Lillian. It'll be late when I get back. Late for me anyways-" Charis explained. "Okay...I can wait here." Lillian looked down. "Well, I didn't think you'd like to stay with me up there...sorry. Uhm, would you like to stay up there." They sighed. "I should of asked you first." Lillian blinked at him guiltily. "Uhm...you choice. I can sit here. It is fine." Lillian backtracked. "Are you sure? I know you said your people stay up all night. I wouldn't want you to be bored." Charis asked. "I can sleep. I have been wake since yesterday's sunset." Lillian shook her head. "Alright, I can take you to the bedroom then." Lillian nodded slowly. Embarrassment glittered in her eyes. "I walk or get carry?" She asked.
"Whatever you choose." He shrugged. They tucked their hands into the pocket of their coat. The wind was bitterly cold. Even in Summer.
"Uhm...o-Okay. I choose walk." Lillian started, beginning to stand up. She desperately did not want to walk. Her legs ached and felt as if they might give out any second now. But she sensed Charis getting impatient with her. Charis helped her stand. "You sure? Your legs are shaking." Lillian nodded. Reassuring him she was fine.
"Lillian-" Charis cut themselves off. "Never mind.."
Lillian sat on her knees. Looking up at him curiously. "You go back to work now I guess..."
Charis ruffled her curly hair. "I'll see you in the morning." With that they were gone. Masha came to escort her to the bedroom while Sergei kept Charis company. Lillian didn't understand Masha's intentions and assumed she wanted to be pet. So Lillian just tried to rub her head while waiting for Charis to finish work...like a sad puppy. Eventually falling asleep on the wood floor by the stairs.Masha nudged her awake, lightly tugging on her clothes to drag her to the bedroom. She didn't growl, just woofed occasionally. She was very polite getting a grip on Lillian's blouse. "Masha...?" Lillian titled her head sleepily. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the dog cautiously. Still nervous around her. "You need me?"
Borf. Masha seemed to understand, nodding her big head. Lillian shakily stood up. Clinging to whatever was nearest. Following Masha. Masha stayed by her, slowly guiding her into a comfy bedroom. It wasn't heavily decorated, but there was a king sized bed, a desk with an oil lamp, and a dresser. The bed was made, the oil lamp was on with a small journal open. There was a quill, as well as an inkwell. There was also a small bed for a cat. Used maybe once. The room itself smelled of smoke and vanilla. "Why here Masha?" Lillian said, looking for a problem. Like an intruder. Masha ushered Lillian to the bed.
Lillian fell onto the soft bed with an 'oof'. "Masha- this is Charis home. What if he get angry?" Lillian whispered. Now realizing how comfy the bed was. She melted into the bed. Lillian was exhausted at this point, and couldn't walk back downstairs now. Her legs hurt to much. She hoped Charis wouldn't mind. Masha jumped on the bed beside her, resting her head on Lillian's shoulder. Masha was like a big comfortable heater, and a pillow. Lillian closed her eyes and fell asleep.Charis returned several hours later. Brain foggy and vision fading. Running on 3 hours of sleep he'd gotten two nights before. He collapsed onto the couch, face first. He was out in moments. Masha, upon hearing the thud of Charis Lansing onto the couch, Rose drowsily, And pranced into the living room. Clambering across Lillian, waking her up. Lillian groaned. Waking up. It was still dark out, but the morning sun was peeking above the horizon. She watched Masha go and followed out of curiosity.
Masha tugged Charis's coat off. Leaving him in a Soot colored turtleneck. Taking off his hat as well. Revealing black fluffy hair. Charis snored abit. "Masha?" Lillian called out quietly. Thinking Charis was still working. She turned the corner and saw him. "Ope!" She covered her mouth. Hoping she didn't wake him up. He might as well of been dead. He was out like a bolt of lightning. Masha rested her head on the cushion nearby his head. Almost sad or disappointed. Lillian blinked. She walked over and sat next to Charis. Her legs hurt to much to go back to bed. Charis's head rose. "Mmm- Masha?" He asked quietly. "Oh hi Lillian." His voice a deep rumble. His eyes filled with sleep. "Hello." Lillian greeted. He turned over. His joints popped and cracked like an old mans. "Sorry, did I wake you?" Lillian shook her head. "No- Masha woke me." Masha borfed. Charis petted her head. Affectionately scolding her in Russian. "Sorry, She isn't used to having two people in the house." Charis apologized. "It is okay...did not meat to wake you."
"You're okay." They said.
"Don't worry...hey...your eyes are pretty." He complimented sleepily. "H-Huh?" Lillian blushed. Caught off guard by his comment. She looked st the ground. Charis seemed halfway out of it. It was likely it was just a brain dead observation, but people were much more honest when they were tired. "Ah...sorry that was sudden."
"No no it is okay." Said flustered. She really enjoyed his compliment, but they put her on the spot. "I-I like your eyes too." She said back. Hiding her face in her hair. Charis smiled softly. Leaning his head on Lillian's shoulder. Their eyes drifted shut. Going in and out of consciousness. Lillian froze until she thought he was asleep. She then leaned on him too. At some point Lillian fell back asleep on the couch. Her head at an uncomfortable angle, but the rest of her body comfortably pressed up against Charis.
