"Tara Come on we're gonna be late to class if you don't pick up the pace!" Lazlo said, running fast, like- really fast...

"Don't you tell me to hurry up! *schoooooooch* You're not the one who has to lug around a 25-pound instrument around! *schoooooooch* With no wheels!! You just have to carry drumsticks around" Tara called back to him, trying to carry her instrument.

"Sucks to suck. I'm going to class! and when you're late, the blame will be all on you! Byeeee" Lazlo said turning around, running even faster (Impressive) and smirking.

"Laz! No!!! I need help! DAMNIT LAZLO! Bit*h!!"

The band room was as chaotic as it always was, the percussionist playing camel by camel and rush E on the marimbas, the saxes making boat noises, the squeaks of the woodwinds, and of course, the extremely high pitched noise of flutes and piccolos playing the highest note they possibly could, the brass instruments playing songs from concerts from who knows when way louder than they need to be and everyone else playing meme songs and scales over and over again.

"Was I too late? Did ya miss me cause I sure know I mis-"

"It's been two months, and two months only, you dunce. No one missed you except your girlfriend!!" An 8th grader from the flute section yelled out making sure everyone else heard.

"Of course you did, who is excited for a year of fun? The sun is shining, the new piece over here on Mr. Solarez's music stand is waiting to be played, and of course, I've arrived." Lazlo said running all around the room.

"Shut up, Lazlo. Things were sad before you arrived and now they're even worse now that you have."

"What did I ever do wrong to you, Shea??"  Lazlo said acting very, very, dramatic.

Lazlo and Shea had never gotten along,  Lazlo thought she was too serious, and quiet, and Shea thought Lazlo was too talkative and childish.

"Lazlo! I would have got here two minutes earlier if you had helped me!" Tara said finally getting her tuba into the room.

Almost everyone in the band room thought Lazlo was overly flamboyant, self-centered, and an all-around show-off. In reality, he just tries his best to make it look like he's cool. He wasn't that way around his friends. Around them, he cracks far too many sex jokes and very openly listens to classical music (His favorite is 4:33 by John Cage).

"Lazlo, Tara, take your seats, you were almost late" Their band director Mr. Solarez said looking at them both in the eye"

"This is your fault Laz. Next time I'm not gonna help you illegally print the music when you lose it next time as a consequence!" Tara whisper yelled, loud enough so that Lazlo could hear it.

Tara (when not carrying her tuba) comes off as this kid who is a super innocent kid who'll sit in her room watching "Doki Doki literature club", but when you get to know her, you'll find out that she sits in her room alone watching "Attack On Titan until" midnight. Make Tara angry you may get a concussion, from her tuba whacking you on the head. Watch out.

"We're already 10-15 minutes off track so I think that's since today we have our new sixth graders, we should welcome them into our group! Everyone, into a circle. Atlas, Erica separate" Solarez said pointing to them. The two of them did not look surprised.

"Oh, what a shame I know sign language!" Atlas spoke, running to his seat.

"And I know French!" Erica said, looking stupid.

Atlas and Erica play the french horn and the Trumpet . The Brass section are chaotic and must be separated to have a conversation without yelling and screaming. The two of them have been best friends since the 3rd grade, and make noises that normally don't come out of a horns and trumpets , come out of a horn and trumpet when they are together.

"Everyone put your instrument in your case! It's showtime!" Solarez declared.

"But Mr. Solarez- we haven't gotten our music yet!" A kid in the trombone section said, looking confused.

"It's a metaphor, Mr. Elrod. A metaphor. Man, you gotta learn how to understand those."

                                                                              Authors Note

Ahaha, my dreams of finally writing and story and letting the world see it will finally come true! Even thought this is a short couple-page thing my ADHD "helped" me and made it take like 4-5 days. The cover is very lazily made by yours truly in the cava Wattpad story cover maker with photos from the internet. I hope ya enjoyed reading this first chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it (The cliche :0). Byeeee!

And for those of you who don't get the joke in paragraph 13, 4:33 is a song that is completely in silence, hinting that Laz likes silence.
