Remy and I had been at the new place for a few weeks already and things were going great. Remy and Mary were great friends and constantly together after school. Remy had been taking the bus home or if Frank was picking up Mary he picked up Remy for me. Either way if Frank couldn't get the girls Roberta picked them up at the bus stop. It was a Friday night and I went to Roberta's with Remy.

"You excited to stay the night with Roberta?" I asked and she nodded as I knocked on Roberta's door. She opened the door and smiled. I saw Mary sitting on the couch.

"Girls night!" Roberta said as hugged Remy who then went running in.

"Are you sure this is okay. I didn't know you were going to have Mary too." I said and Roberta shook her head.

"It will be fine. Please go out, have a good time. Go get dinner by yourself for once. Just enjoy." Roberta said and I looked at Remy who was sitting with Mary and they watched a movie.

"Alright then. I will see you tomorrow afternoon?" I said and she nodded.

"I will bring her back in the afternoon. Just go." Roberta said and shood me off her stoop.

"Bye." I said and walked away. I went home and changed out of my scrubs into a short black jean skirt and a hot pink tank top. I headed out and as I was on my way to a restaurant I passed a bar and figured that was a better change of pace. As I walked in and looked around I huffed at who I saw sitting at the bar. I walked over to him.

"So this is why Mary was at Roberta's when I dropped of Remy." I said and Frank looked at me and huffed a laugh.

"Roberta takes Mary every Friday night. She insists I go out and have a normal life." Frank said. I looked at the stool next to him.

"This seat taken?" I asked and Frank smiled.

"It is now." Frank said and I sat down as the bartender approached.

"Tequila Sour please." I said and he nodded walking away to make the drink.

"Wow first whiskey now tequila, you go hard." Frank said and I chuckled.

"Just want to push things out of my head and have a clear one for the night. I am kid free, first time in a long time." I said and Frank nodded.

"No family to watch her where you came from?" Frank asked.

"My ex-'s mother but I wouldn't trust her with a goldfish." I said and Frank laughed.

"So Roberta is your breath of fresh air..." Frank trailed off and I nodded.

"Very much so." I said and Frank nodded.

"So I don't know much about you Frank." I said after a couple moments of silence as my drink was set down.

"What do you want to know?" Frank asked.

"Well we can start of simple....or I can go straight into difficult questions." I said and Frank laughed taking a sip of his beer.

"How about we start off simple." Frank said and I nodded.

"So I know Mary is your niece and I can see you have no wife. But so you have a girlfriend?" I asked and Frank shook his head.

"Hard to date when someone doesn't understand Mary is my life." Frank said and I nodded.

"What do you do for a living?" I asked.

"I work down on the docks and repair boats." Frank said and I smiled.

"Do I get to ask questions?" Frank asked and I nodded.

"Nothing too hard." I said and Frank nodded.

"So I know you are a vet, did you always want to be a vet?" Frank asked and I nodded.
