Third-Person POV
Natasha's eyes go wide as the plane explodes, immediately sending Vallonia flying through the air. She watches as Vallonia loses consciousness, her body immediately going limp. "Vallonia!" she shouts, as if it will do anything to help.
She watches Vallonia's body flip through the air, the explosion sending it flying in her direction. However, a spark of hope ignites within Natasha; Vallonia is flying in her direction. She estimates that Vallonia will cross her path further down, so she quickly dives downward, streamlining her body to try to go faster that Vallonia.
As Vallonia approaches, Natasha extends her arm, desperately trying to reach her. Almost there, almost there. In perfect luck, Vallonia happens to be mid-flip with her hand reaching upwards towards Natasha as she passes under Natasha. Natasha reaches out so far that she's sure she's going to pull her shoulder out of socket. A tear that she is unsure of whether it's from fear or relief escapes her eye as her fingertips brush past Vallonia's.
But then that hope is extinguished as Vallonia's body continues flying past her, their fingertips losing contact.
A choked sob escapes from Natasha's throat as she stares at the hand that was just touching Vallonia in utter despair. The hand shakes, the memory of Vallonia's skins brushing past hers so recent that she can still feel it. She turns to look at Vallonia's body, seeing that it's now too far for there to be any hope of her catching it.
Tears now rapidly streaming from her eyes, she lets out a sob, hugging her arms around herself tightly as her brain loses all control over her movements, being unable to decide what to do due to her overwhelming grief.
It is by pure fate that during her uncontrollable sobbing, Natasha happens to subconsciously pull the string on her parachute. As the parachute catches her and she jolts harshly in the harness, she is yanked back to the present.
She looks up at the parachute, realizing that she habitually pulled it open since she is getting close to the ground. For a few seconds, she considers cutting the strings to the parachute and letting herself fall so she won't have to go on without Vallonia, but she quickly wipes the thought from her mind as she realizes that Vallonia died so she could live.
She manages to keep as calm as possible for the rest of her descent, which luckily goes by quickly. The moment her feet touch the ground, she immediately tears the backpack off her back. Ignoring her slight unsteadiness, she sprints in the direction of where Vallonia's body seemed to fall.
As she frantically searches her surroundings, her gaze falls upon a large section of the grass field, seemingly untouched by the disaster around it as its purple flowers are still in full bloom. That is, untouched aside from the limp figure laying in the middle of the field. Immediately recognizing the disheveled hair as Vallonia's, she sprints to the body.
Natasha falls to her knees next to Vallonia, immediately pulling her into her lap by her upper body. As her hand lands on the back of Vallonia's head, a sob escapes her throat at the feeling of her hand being soaked in Vallonia's blood. "No, no no no," she whispers desperately, immediately pulling Vallonia's limp body against hers. Vallonia's skin is still slightly warm, but clearly losing heat by the second.
Natasha sobs as she runs her hands through Vallonia's bloody hair, pulling away to look at her lifeless face. As the cold hard reality sets in, Natasha's stomach twists.
