I was startled awake by someone shaking the shit out of me. I rolled over so I could face whoever it was and was prepared to hit them. I stopped once I realized it was just Max. Wait Max? Why is he here?

He motions for me to be quiet and follow him out. I nod and he leaves. I look over at Nikki and see she is still sound asleep. It was actually a funny view. Her top half was hanging off her bed, so her head almost touched the ground. I change as quickly as possible before Max comes back in to see what was taking so long. I shove my shoes on and grab my favorite green hoodie. Like Max and his blue hoodie, I wear my green one all the time. I make my way outside and see Max waiting for me by the fire pit.

"It's about damn time." Max said rolling his eyes.

I looked at him and raised an eyebrow, silently questioning why he woke me up so early. The sun was just starting to rise, it was actually still kind of dark out.

He seemed to get what I was asking. "Come on I need your help on something." He started walking to the arts and craft area.

I followed him and stopped when I noticed all the items laid out in the grass. Different sized planks of wood, some logs, a giant mallet, some old cans, and a bunch of other random stuff.

"I need your help to make something. Hopefully it will put an end to my misery with David." Max explained when he saw my confused look.

With that we started building. Well first we moved everything closer to the mess hall, then we started building. We managed to get the base for it all set up without issue. The more challenging part was getting the moving pieces set up right. After many trials we finally got all the pieces right where we needed them. Max then explained that once David was standing in a certain spot, he would then use a marble that would get everything moving and hopefully the giant rock would hit David in the head. I feel like Mikey Walsh.

"But first paint the rock." He instructed handing me the rock and some blue paint. "I want it to say, 'fuck the police'."

Well okay. This is an interesting start to the day. I start painting the rock when I noticed the other campers started coming out of their tents. Somehow no one noticed what we had done. Maybe it's because everyone was walking to the mess hall with their eyes almost closed since they are all still half asleep.

I get the rock painted and put into place. Once done Max and I make our way into the mess hall. We get our food and make our way to the table Neil and Nikki are already sitting at.

"Hey, what's up with that weird thing outside? The thing you guys were making?" Nikki asked with her mouth full. Hmm, so someone did notice.

"Actually, it's called a Rube Goldberg Machine. It's named after American cartoon artist Rube Goldberg. It's a chain reaction-type machine intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and overly complicated way. Usually, these machines-" Neil starts to explain before getting cut off my Max.

"Yeah no one really cares. The point of it is to hit David with it." Max mentioned looking around to see if David was around. I spotted him standing next to Gwen and talking about something. No clue what though, but Gwen doesn't seem very excited.

The rest of breakfast passed quietly and before I knew it, it was about time to put our plan into action. Honestly even though David gets on my nerves I don't want him dead. Maimed or seriously injured maybe but not dead. So little does Max know I've aimed the machine to be a little off. That way when it does hit David, it won't actually kill him. Maybe. We'll find out.

After breakfast David made us all follow him outside to right in front of the mess hall.

David was showing us the camp mascot. Well, I guess really just showing it to Neil and Nikki but had us all stay together.
