Chapter 3 - Our First Date

I walked through the long grass to the jacaranda in awe. I had never seen it like this. Fairy lights hung from tree to tree as the sun began to set. I looked around and put my back against the jacaranda taking in the view.

"Beautiful, isn't it."

I turned to find the voice as Camilo stepped from the other side of the tree. He smiled at me but I could tell he was just as nervous as I was. I smiled back at him still feeling butterflies in my stomach.

"You did this yourself?"

"I had a little bit of help."

He held out his hand and led me to a blanket that was laid out with food that Julieta had made for us. We ate and joked and laughed until the sun had set adn the stars were out. He laid his back on the blanket, me following shortly after. We admired the stars together and I felt him look at me as I pointed out a shooting star passing by. We layed there a bit longer before Camilo got up and offered his hand out.

"Dance with me?"

"There's no music."

"Who cares?"

I chuckled a bit and took his hand. He pulled me up to him and swayed me around, twirling me through the air before pulling me close. His hands folded on my lower back while mine were folded on the back of his neck, playing with a few strands of his hair. He chuckled lightly and we danced through the sounds of the night in silence.

"Princesa?"

"Hm?"

"You like me, right?"

"Of course, you heard it yourself."

"Well, yeah, but..."

He pulled away a bit so he could look me in the eyes.

"Do you like all of me?"

"Of course I do!"

"Even when I'm not the happy, outgoing person I usally am? Even when I tease you too much? Even when I lose control and can't stop shifting?"

I could see sadness and fear in his eyes. I moved my hands to cup both sides of his face.

"Camilo, I love all of you. I'll always be there, ok? Your highs and lows, when you tease, when you lose control. I'll be there, got it? Now tell me how I can make you feel better?"

He put his hand up to mine and smiled at me.

"Hmm... with a kiss?"

I smiled at him and rubbed his cheek with my thumb.

"Ha, sure. Cause I want you soo bad."

Only this time I wasn't being sarcastic. I felt like I had the world in my hands and the world was in his. Both of us had the world to ourselves. It was only this moment that existed. This moment and this moment only. He chuckled a bit at my response and pulled me closer, slowly bringing his lips towards mine. It was pure bliss as our lips touched and we melted into the kiss. Everything else had faded away. The moment was perfection. Even though the kiss only lasted as few seconds, it felt like a milennia. We looked at each other and smiled before realizing how late it was getting.

"I should probably get you home, princesa."

"Or you could take me back to yours. My parents won't care too much."

He laughed a bit as he started to lead me away from the jacaranda.

"You sure they won't mind?"

"Yeah, it should be fine."

I looked back noticing all the decorations and blanket were still out.

"Shouldn't we clean up our mess?"

"It's ok, Mirabel and Dolores will take care of it. It's what they get for spying on us."

"What?"

He looked to the side. I followed his gaze to find Mirabel and Dolores acting like they didn't just get caught watching us. I just rolled my eyes and we started walking towards Camilo's house. We decided that he'd sleep in his room and I'd sleep in Mirabel's. He gave me a kiss before saying good night and walking off to his room.
