Background: This is during the blip and Y/N finds Natasha talking to Rhodes and she looks upset so Y/N comforts and tries to cheer her up

Y/N pov

It's been 5 years since the blip and Natasha hasn't stopped since. It was only me and her left living in the compound. Steve comes by ever so often but not much. Nat's been struggling lately with everything. She's sad more often and she's starting to lose hope.

I'm currently sat in our bedroom scrolling on my phone bored out my mind. Natasha's downstairs trying to figure out ways to get our family back. I've not seen her much today which she hasn't done in a while. So I wanna go down and check on her.

I make my way down to the conference room and see silhouettes of Rocket, Rhodes, Carol, Okoye and Nebula. I just lean against the doorway and listen.

"Do we have a visual? How are we handling it?" Natasha asks Okoye.

"Nat, it's an earthquake under the ocean, we handle it by not handling it" Okoye replies.

"Carol are we seeing you here next month?" Nat turns her attention to Carol.

"Not likely" 

"What you gonna get another haircut" Rocket jokes making me chuckle lightly.

"Listen fur-face, I'm covering a lot of territory the things that are happening on earth are happening everywhere on thousands of planets" Carol says. 

When she said it's happening everywhere it made nat shift a little bit. 

"Uh yeah okay good point" Rocket says putting his head down.

"So you might not see me for a long time" Carol adds.

"Alright uh well, this channels always active so if anything goes sideways anyone's making trouble where they shouldn't, it comes through me" Nat says sternly.

They all agree.

"Alright" She says going over to sit on a chair round the conference table. I'm about to make my way over but Rhodes is still there even though everyone else left. I stay where I am a bit longer to see what he says.But nat speaks first.

"Where are you?" She asks him.

"Mexico, the federally found a room full of bodies, los like a bunch of cartel guys never even got the chance to get their guns off" He explains.

"It's probably a rival gang" She says folding her arms.

"Except it isn't" He says and I know exactly what he's gonna say.

This is gonna make nat so much worse but she should know where her best friend is so I'll wait till Rhodes leaves to go to her.

"It's definitely Barton" He adds. 

I look over at nat who still hasn't seen me and she drops her head slightly. She's trying not to cry.

"What he's done here, what he's been doing for the past few years, I mean the scene that he left" He says.

Nat jerks a little holding back her tears. I just want to go over and comfort her but even though it hurts her, she wants to hear about Barton.

"I gotta tell you there's a part of me that doesn't even wanna find him" 

Natasha thinks for a few seconds before talking.

"Will you find out where he's going next?" She asks, her voice falling at the end slightly.

She moves forward and. grabs her peanut butter jelly sandwich and takes a bite.

"Nat..." Rhodes says.
