IRL:
"Oh my god Chee I didn't actually mean it like that!" Eddie groaned as Richie jumped around his apartment living room, hyper from eating sugar.
"The fans are lovin it though Eds my dear" Richie replied and flopped down next to Eddie. He moved to position his head into Eddie's lap and let the smaller boy tangle his fingers through Richie's hair. The taller boy looked up at Eddie who was frowning.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I just... that Myra girl is really into me" Eddie murmured. He glanced over at his phone and blushed slightly. "It's kinda... fun". Richie was the one to frown now as he pulled away from Eddie and sat up.
"But were dating Eds" he whispered.
"Rich you know that's fake. It's just for the fans" Eddie said while rolling his eyes. For some reason hearing those words come out of Eddie's mouth hurt Richie.
"R-right" the taller boy said as he looked down at his shoes. "Pretend".
The thing was, Richie had been admiring Eddie a lot more recently. It had only been a couple weeks since they met and a couple days since they decided to pretend to date. Somewhere along the way Richie found himself smiling at Eddie when the boy giggled or did something cute.
Fuck that.
Richie found himself smiling at Eddie all the damn time.
Eddie just made him feel different. He made Richie feel alive, feel loved, feel.. special. Now that the boy was bringing up interest in others he felt numb and sad inside.
"Rich did you hear me?" Eddie asked, snapping his fingers in front of Richie's face.
"Shit sorry Eds" Richie mumbled.
"It's ok. As I was saying, we can either watch Luca or Encanto. You pick" Eddie said with a huge smile on his face.
"Luca?"
"Good choice!" the smaller boy beamed and turned on the Disney movie.
Halfway through the movie Eddie fell asleep with his head resting against Richie's shoulder. Richie brushed the shorter boy's hair out of his face and kissed his forehead. He laid down and pulled Eddie onto his chest. There was no turning back now, Richie defiantly had a crush on Eddie.
