Song of the chapter: Level of concern by Twenty One Pilots.

She stared at her father in disbelief, of course she loved her best friend but things had been awkward ever since the boy had told her his secret. Besides she had never lived anywhere but here.
"But Dad, I want to stay here with you...", the girl trailed of giving her dad a pleading look.
"Listen I've already cleared it with May who happens to have a spare room, besides it will only be for a month or two.", she knew her dad only wanted what was best for her but Helen still couldn't help feeling a sense of disappointed.
"But Dad why can't I just be here, I'm 17 not a toddler...", she tried trying to convince her dad but was cut off.
"Gums stop. You know I only want what's best for you besides isn't the kid your best friend? Trust me I'd take you with me if I could but i just can't risk it, ok kiddo? End of discussion.", Helen had definitely gotten her stubbornness from her dad. She knew there was no changing his mind but that didn't mean she was going to change her mind right this second.
"How can it be end of discussion when we're never even had one conversation about it, huh? I'm old enough to take care of myself dad.", it wasn't that she didn't want to live with the Parkers, she just didn't want to leave her own home for that long.
"Helen Rosalind Stark. I'm your father and I've decided that this is what's best for you.", she cringed at her father using her full name and not her nickname, she knew this meant the discussion was over at this point, there would be no use in arguing more like a teenager.
"Sorry Dad, I just want to spend as much time as I can with my old man you know.", Helen said jokingly ending the argument while making her dad chuckle.
That weekend Helen packed the essentials such as clothes, hygiene products, electronics etc into Happy's car. Happy was one of her father's most trusted employees, he had been with the Stark family as long as Helen could remember. Besides Helen and Pepper Happy was probably the person that her father trusted the most which was saying a lot since her father was not the most trusting of people. The girl glanced at her father who smiled at her gently as she stood in front of the black shiny car ready for the move.
"I'm gonna miss you Dad...", she sighed as her dad caught her in a comforting embrace.
"I'm going to miss you too Gums even if it's only for a month or two...", Tony trailed of and the two stayed hugging for a while before Happy let them know that her father was needed elsewhere. Helen knew her dad was a hero and that he would always be there for the ones who needed him, yet she couldn't keep herself from feeling disappointed as she watched her father wave goodbye and leave in a rush. She needed him too.
The car ride to the Parker's house was silent, Happy would occasionally glance back at the girl reassuringly. He was like a second dad to her, always helping her with homework and cooking when her dad was away on assignment which is why no words were needed in order for him to recognise her longing for her father yet again.
Helen stared out the tinted car windows while deep in thought. Of course the girl was sad that her dad was leaving for some time but she could not help but to feel a hint of excitement as she thought about spending some more time with Peter. The two had certainly talked after his confession but definitely not like they used to and not as much as usual, maybe this trip would help the two of them getting back to normal. But the two had as a matter of fact almost shared a kiss which was also part of the reason that awkwardness had surfaced between the pair. It was also the reason their friend group had recently been split into two, Ned and Peter on the one end and MJ with Helen on the other.
The four of them had been close for a long time so the split between the four teenagers was almost certainly not definitive, just a temporary solution. As soon as Helen left Peter's that night she had told MJ everything on the phone, well apart from the whole Peter being spiderman thing. Michelle had not been impressed nor had she been surprised that the two best friends had nearly kissed. The girl had told Helen to get over it and just go for it since the two were clearly infatuated with each other but understood the sheer awkwardness of the situation and would let them figure it out amongst themselves which Helen was thankful for. Of course the girl had not had the time to tell MJ about the move that she was sure her friend would probably find entertaining.
Her thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the car stopping and Happy announcing their arrival.
