"Gio! Wake up before I get some more water!"

"mmmm, shut uppp...I'm trying to sleep!"

"Ok fine." he muttered before he raised my arms and started dragging me.

"What're you doing?" I asked looking up at him sleepily with a yawn following right after. He didn't reply and just kept dragging me out of my room towards the stairs.

Wait... Towards the stairs?

"Let me go!" I screamed fearing for my life as I yanked my hands out of his. That was a bad move because it caused me to tip over the edge.

"Calm down, I wasn't going to drop you!" He said just as loud and grabbed my shirt, preventing me from falling.

I let out a breath I didn't even know I was holding and thanked him.

"Sorry..." he said smiling. I hit him on his shoulder and sat up knowing he isn't sorry.

"So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

"Ahh yes, it's my birthday...Thank you!"

"Happy birthday sweetie!" mom said startling me as she appeared behind me out of nowhere.

"Thanks mom!"

"Good morning Elias. Are you staying over for breakfast?"

"Yes Aunty, I already let my parents know beforehand. I'm going back home right after to get ready for school though.

"Ok great, let's go downstairs, I made all of your favorites!"

Elias and I have a lot in common, mostly our taste in food so I'm sure both of us will definitely enjoy because mom's cooking is the best!

After eating breakfast and waiting forever for Elias to get ready, we were on our way to school, but half way there, Elias stopped walking.

"I'm going to go to the treehouse for a few minutes. I won't be long.

"What are you going to do?"

"I have to put this bag inside for...something..."

"Okaaay...so why can't you do that after school? We can go together." You see, the thing about Elias is that he sucks at lying. It's easy to figure it out because he tilts his head and averts eye contact. He also hesitates to say what he's saying.

"Because...I don't want to forget."

"Ok then, later." I waved at him and walked away. If he wanted to tell me, he would've. Plus, we promised not to keep secrets so this is either really important or he'll tell me later. My guess is that he'll show me later cause it's my birthday so it's probably a surprise.

"...ee...Mr. Lee!" I suddenly heard my teacher call out.

"Y-yes sir! Here!"

"What are you spacing out about, Mr. Lee?"

"Nothing sir, sorry."

"Don't let it happen again." He warned as he pointed his pen at me and called out another name. Truth is, there is something wrong. Elias hasn't come back from the treehouse yet and I'm currently in my last class for the day! He probably just went back home because he wasn't feeling well...but he was just fine this morning...What if-

"Gio?" one of my classmates called out to me, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I am..." I then realized my leg was bouncing. She probably saw and got worried I guess.

As soon as the bell rung signaling the dismissal of school, I ran all the way to Elias' house hoping he's there.

I knocked 3 times and didn't hear anything but dead silence and decided to check the treehouse. Before heading there, I made a quick stop at my house and changed from my uniform and grabbed my phone just in case.
