After another hour in the hospital, I was able to move my body. School was half way done, so if I went back, I would be able to make it just in time for lunch.
When I got back to school Selena was able to give me back my cell phone that was comepletely drained of life.
"Sorry your battery died." Selena apologized.
"It's okay, as long as nothing impor--" A familiar hand came up and covered my mouth to keep me from speaking.
Don't jinx it! It was Corey.
"Oh, hi, Corey! It always seems like you're with Karly. Are you two going out?" asked Selena, "You guys would make the cutest couple ever! I mean you're both the scariest people in the tenth grade." Corey grinned and let go of my mouth.
"Gee, thanks, Selena," I said sarcastically, "and no! We both only think of each other as friends. Right, Corey?"
"Well..." He teased and I gave him a nasty glare, "I'm kidding!"
We walked to lunch together and sat together every day, but it was different this time. It almost felt like a...
"...A date?" He said. "so...?"
"Huh?" I blushed a little not knowing what he was talking about at all. Either he was reading my mind or he was talking about something while I was off in my own thoughts again.
"Well..." He blushed and rubbed the back of his neck while looking away, "I was wondering if... you know..."
"No I don't know. Just spit it out, Loser!" I laughed.
"Do y-you wanna go to the fair tomorrow... uh... together?" He blushed even harder.
"Sure, I'd love to! It'll be so much fun!" I said excitedly, "Can I bring Selena? We could all go together as friends!"
Corey~
My heart dropped and I felt a cold chill freeze the beads of sweat on my forehead. Does she really only think of me as a friend? I finally worked up enough guts to ask her out and she wants to go as friends?! Girls are so confusing!!!
"S-sure..." I whispered. She wasn't kidding when she said today wasn't going to be a good day.
"Hey, what do you usually do at funerals?" she asked, "I'll be going to my dad's this weekend..."
"Well I don't know, all the family I know of is alive." I sighed. I looked up and saw that Karly had turned from excited to depressed. She looked so delicate when she was crying that I almost wanted to kiss her and make her pain go away. She's not all that scary when you get to know her. She actually looks cute and fragile... I wasn't able to control myself around her and I lifted up her chin and saw her adorable blue eyes full of tears. CRAP! I almost kissed her! I have got to control myself! I let go of her warm, soft face and huffed.
"I know it sucks, Baby, but this is what happens when you're special and different." I said. She looked at me with a smile and hugged me. If only she knew how hard my heart was beating...
"Master, is there anything I can get for you?" Mikey Lebron, my most treasured butler, asked politely.
"Karly..." I sighed.
"But you musn't ask her out until she feels comfortable as your girlfriend instead of just your friend, Sir." He replied.
"Where is she?" My eyes wandered off staring down hallways behind Mikey Lebron as I was searching for her.
"In bed asleep, Master." He always replied so plainly, "She grew tired and took a nap as soon as she got here from school."
And of course I had to do my usual morning stuff while I waited for Karly to wake up. Mikey handed me my Homework from my bookbag and called my special tutors my mom sent to help me with my language. After finishing my homework, I sat and thought about my mom. My older brother and sisters were always spoiled like me. She always read us romance and horror stories she wrote from her childhood and Dad would be at work everytime that I came home from private school. I still never knew what happened to him, though. Mommy told me that she keeped her maiden name to keep a secret from somebody, but I never understood. She reminded me that being special had special responsibilities and if anything ever happened to me, to let her know telepathically.
I found I had walked into my bedroom and saw Karly fast asleep in my bed. I wonder why she's in my bed? I thought. I looked down and saw that she had an adorable sleeping face like my mom. Her strawberry blonde hair covered her shoulders and her face looked red and smooth like a baby's would. I leaned down and picked her up to bring her to her own room and realized that her room was up in the attic; two stories higher than mine. Oh well. It's worth it to have her in my arms for so long. I smiled and carried her up to the attic and began to lay her down in her queen sized bed when she was waking up. She started to struggle to get up and I lost my grip on her. She fell to the bed and I soon followed.
"Get off!" She screamed after I had fallen ontop of her. I noticed she was still asleep and was having a nightmare, so I sat next to her on her bed and cradled her in my arms thinking she might calm down. "Corey... help..." she muttered in her sleep.
"I'm right here." I whispered and rest my chin on her soft waves of srawberry scented hair.
I sat up and put her back on the bed when Mikey called from the bottom of the stairs.
"MASTER, YOU HAVE VISITORS!"
"I'm coming!" I called back. Walking down the stairs I saw that Mikey was held at gunpoint by a group of men in suits, "What's all of this about?!" I screamed.
"What's going on?" Karly had woken up and was headed down the stairs. She gasped at the sight of the guns.
"Stay upstairs! I'll be fine!" I wasn't very confident in my reply, but I wanted her to be safe. She ran upstairs obediantly. "What's going on?" I repeated, "Put the guns down now!" One man grinned and shot the gun anyway. The bullet cracked through Mikey's innocent skull and he fell to the ground with a thud. Blood poured onto the rug as Mikey sat lifeless and pale. Karly ran back downstairs with a tazer she had hid in her bookbag.
"Where'd you get that?" I said from under my tears.
"My dad was a cop!" She smirked. She looks ten times hotter with that thing! "Hello? Let's kick some butt already!"
"We can't let you do that." The guy who killed my butler said calmly. He threw a bomb at us and we just stood there in a daze; it was a knock out bomb. The bomb flashed unleashing a fury of fumes that made us fall to our knees immediately.
