CHAPTER TWO
Many would be surprised to find out the living quarters of Lux Sweeney. It was a mostly simple home, deep in the hills of Laurel Canyon; she took great pride in it, too. It was as every bit of her as she was of it, and you could expect most often to find her there, out by the pool, book in hand. The double French doors led out to the pool, and considering Los Angeles' famous hot weather, it was often left open for her cat, Lennon, to freely filter through.A kind cat, he was named as such considering the home she loved had once been stayed in by John Lennon himself. In fact, a picture of him hung in the living room from the home; in it, his eyes are concealed by hip sunglasses, and he pouts, hand cradling his chin, sitting on the lounge chair, perhaps annoyed with the camera, or life in general. It had been there when she got there and, the first night she moved in, she had been careful to drag her own lounge chair to the precise spot John's had been. Somehow, by the hands of a party-goer most likely, the picture had been flipped, and Lux had left it like that, hanging upside down indefinitely. The judging figure of John Lennon looms over the living room; it is natural now, and everyday Lux greets the room with a, 'Good morning Lennon, good morning Lux, good morning John!'
Her manager, Grace, is over now; they break for tea, that being the only thing Lux properly knows how to make, over a sea of paperwork. This is one of Lux's least favourite things, and she ponders this as Lennon shows off, flexing indifferently in one of Cali's many sun rays; it is February now, and quite warm. "Your album sales are incredible, especially for a debut," Grace praises, laying a hand on the young girl's arm as if this might draw her back to attention, "Your profits are sky-rocketing. Tim Heyne called to send his regards. He's going to tell Tom, y'know."
Lux blushes at the mention of the name, hiding her face in her hands. She had the fiercest of crushes on the boy since they had met at one of their manager's parties, and unfortunately Grace had found out, which meant Lux would never hear the end of it! Cinderella was supposed to be a rival band, but due to her love for their music, Lux would never view them as such. She was quite happy to be their friend and they were quite happy to be hers, unknowing of her crush on the frontman, Tom Keifer, although sometimes she felt it was so obvious it might as well have been written on her forehead.
Grace rested back in her chair, thoughtfully drinking her tea, "I can tell you don't care about that, though. What I will tell you is that you are doing well! Talk of another tour is in the works!" Lux squealed girlishly, complete with jumping up and down. Quickly, she disturbs Lennon from his slumber, dancing around and singing nonsense songs into his humorously large cat ears. Tours had always been a joy for Lux, though admittedly she had only done one thus far; all her life, she had been a traveller, and last time she got to go to Japan! There was no telling where it would take her now, especially considering due to Velveteen Rabbit's release.
