Two hours later, the police car slowed to a stop in front of the Higashikata house. "Your grandfather will get the report in the morning, Mr. Higashikata. I hope this is the last time I'll be seeing you like this."
"I-it will be, I promise!" Josuke nodded, looking at the officer in the front seat. "I mean it this time!"
"Yeah yeah, you two have a good night now." The officer nodded, Y/N and Josuke both scrambling out of the backseat and into Josuke's yard. "And don't get into anymore trouble tonight!" With that, the car rolled away from the curb, and the pair turned towards each other.
"What! The! Hell! Josuke!" Y/N turned on her own anger, smacking Josuke chest as hard as she could muster with each word. "First you're late to school and now you get us brought home in a cop car!"
"Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!" Josuke exclaimed each time she hit him. "I'm sorry, Y/N/N, it wasn't my fault! Jotaro held me up before school and you heard what that lowlife said about my hair!"
"Ah, there you two are!" Y/N and Josuke both jumped, turning towards the now glowing doorway of the Higashikata house. Much to both of their happiness, it was only Josuke's grandfather. "You're very late, you know. You weren't wasting all of your money at the arcade again, were you?"
"No!" The pair hurried. Josuke's grandfather chuckled.
"Of course not, of course not." He waved his hand. "Anyway, dinner is almost ready. Are you coming over tonight, Y/N?"
"Oh, thanks for the offer Mr. Higashikata, but my moms making something special tonight." Josuke's grandfather watched them for another moment.
"Well alright, don't take too long, Josuke." Josuke nodded, and his grandfather stepped inside-though neither teen missed him leaving the door cracked.
"This will never get less annoying." Josuke sighed as he turned back to Y/N. Ever since the beginning of seventh grade, Josuke's grandfather had "known" Josuke and Y/N were secretly dating. They weren't, of course, but he insisted that he was right. He tried to catch them on multiple occasions, though he never saw more than a hug that might've lasted a little too long.
"No, but it is funny." Y/N chuckled, shooting a final glance at the door before looking up at Josuke. "You put me through hell today, you know that?"
"I know, I'm sorry." Josuke sighed, dipping his head. "I was gonna leave! But then he made that comment about my hair and-"
"Josuke, you've gotta stop being so sensitive about your hair." Y/N sighed. "You love it, and you rock it, so who cares what other people think?" Y/N had given Josuke this speech a million times, and he never seemed to get it through his thick skull.
"I'm won't stand for anyone making fun of me, though!" He argued, but she knew the real reason behind his defensiveness. "Or you. If anyone ever said anything like that about you, I'd beat them up just the same."
"Yeah, I know you would." Y/N hummed, recalling a certain face-rearranging incident in middle school. Behind her, she heard her porch light flick on, which meant her mom wanted her to come inside. "Do you think that thing meant what it said?" She inquired, looking up at him.
"Hmm? Oh, that stand? Pssh, yeah right." Josuke shrugged. "I bet he's not even that big of a deal, Jotaro didn't mention anything specific."
"Still though, he'd said he'd be watching us." Y/N couldn't help her glance to the treeline across the street from their houses. "What if he is right now?"
"Y/N." Josuke's heavy hands landed on her shoulders, making her turn back towards him. "He doesn't even know who we are. And sure, Morioh's not huge, but it's not that small either. Tomorrow, I'll figure out how to tell Jotaro that we met the guy alright? But I don't want you to worry. If you have any problems in the night just send Glass over to wake me up and I'll come to you. I don't want you wandering around in the dark by yourself." Y/N huffed, but nodded in agreement and he dropped his hands.
"Fine." She sighed. "Are we playing Mario Kart tomorrow-since we didn't get to today?"
"Of course." He nodded. "I'm upset we missed our tradition. But we can play extra long tomorrow, I promise." She also nodded. "Hey, don't forget what I said, okay. Send Glass over if you need me, even if it ends up being nothing."
"I know, Josu." Y/N smiled up at him. "I'll see you in the morning."
"Night, Y/N/N." Josuke waved, staying in place until Y/N pushed her front door open. She turned back, shooting Josuke one final smile before entering her house.

"Y/NNNnnn..." Y/N stirred in her sleep, though not waking yet. "Y/NNNnn..." Yet again, she stirred but didn't wake. A long, deep sigh sounded. "Y/N!" Y/N's body jolted and her eyes opened, though not very much.
"Mmmm, Josuke? Is that you?" Her voice was gravelly from sleep, and her hand tiredly reached off the side of the bed, falling limp soon after. "Josu~"
"I'm not Josuke." A deep voice whispered from somewhere in the darkness. Y/N's eyes snapped open as a chuckle sounded in the darkness. The sound of fabric shuffling made the hairs on the back of her neck stand up, and the glint of a pair of eyes in the corner of her room made her sit up straight. Glass appeared behind her as she fumbled around, quickly finding the switch for the light on her nightstand. Her chest was rising and falling hard as she flicked the light on, desperately confused when she found no one there. She sat there, breathing, only for a moment before sending Glass straight through the walls of her house, and into Josuke's room.
Not a minute later, Josuke was in her window, and Glass was back in her room with Shining Diamond. Y/N hurriedly pushed her windows open, allowing Josuke space to clamber through. He fell onto her bed with a thud, staring up at her terrified face for only a second before sitting up.
"What happened?" Josuke cooed, long arms opening up quickly. Y/N rushed into them, pushing her face into his shoulder as her hands clutched his t-shirt. Through trembling lips, Y/N told Josuke everything she could remember-doing her best to keep her voice down. Josuke's hands rubbed her back and arms, trying to both calm her down and keep himself calm.
"Oh Josuke, he knows where we live!" Y/N gasped out, raising her face from Josuke's shoulder and looking up at him. "We're not safe! You have to call that Jotaro guy and get him to come save us!"
"No, no, Y/N we don't need Jotaro." Josuke grumbled. "You have me."
"But I-"
"You have me." Josuke repeated, squeezing her. "Shining Diamond has checked the house, he and his stand aren't here. I'll send him to check mine, you recall Glass. I don't want him anywhere near you." Y/N couldn't find any words to say, simply nodding and pulling Glass back to her. Josuke continued to hold her close, and Y/N eventually laid her head back on his shoulder. Before long, Y/N had fallen asleep. Josuke waited until the sun began to rise before putting Y/N back in her bed and climbing out of her window, hoping to get into his room before his mom woke up.
