After the Packup

It's been 5 days since they had gotten out of that house.

Karan woke up for the fifth morning without her waking him up. And contrary to what everyone said, it didn't feel any better. He looked for his phone on his bed and saw five missed calls from her. It was already 9 am and she would have reached the sets by then.

He dialled her on face time and as usual she picked on the first ring. She was again wearing that yellow suit and looked as cute as ever.

"Sunny, you're still sleeping? God, I'm jealous. We sleep at the same time but you get to wake up late. I mean I sleep in the sets, but it's not the same. I have to make sure makeup is fine and all that. Baby, today on the way to the set na I got a call from a random person. You won't believe it. They want us to come to their house for dinner. He just invited me and hung up. Didn't even tell me who he was or where his house was. I was laughing so hard. Sunny, tell mummy that I loved the chicken last night. I felt like I gained 10 kgs in one day. Sunny, isn't your first interview at 9.30 today?"

He was smiling looking at her. This. This is what he needed all his life. To wake up to her voice, to listen to her stories, to love her morning energy. She smiled seeing him smile. "Sunnnnnnyyyyyy, I love you. I miss you. Aaa jaa meri paas"

"I love you too Mera ladoooo, when is your packup today?"

"10pm sadly. Where are we going for dinner today?" she asked him. They have made it a habit to have at least one meal usually dinner together everyday.

"We're going to Novotel. I thought we could do a little more than dinner today?" His voice had changed and she looked at him to see if he was serious. She had veg waiting for him to ask to maintain some dignity. She nodded and all of their pent up feelings threatened to come out. But a crew member called her for her next shot and she ended the call with a kiss.

She finally got a break at 8pm to call him. He told her he had made the reservation for tonight and told her about his idea to escape the paps tonight. She got a giddy excited feeling and finished the rest of her prep for that day. She knew he was waiting in her car. The thought of him in her tiny car made her laugh out loud. She exited her vanity to see the expected group of paps waiting outside. She just said bye to them and hurried to where she knew her car was parked. But they started following her and she was almost running as she reached the car.

Karan was sitting inside laughing at her being caught and the press teasing him for fooling them. They didn't stop to give pictures though and just took off hoping they were not followed. Teja was still laughing but as the laughter died down and she saw they were being followed, she asked him "Is it always going to be like this? Will we never get privacy? Can I not go anywhere with you freely?"

He pulled her towards him and put his arm around her. "No baby, the hype will die down in a while. They will move on to other people. And I'll make better plans. Don't worry"

They reached the hotel and ignored the paps. As soon they entered, Karan's manager handed them a key and Teja's bag that he had picked up from security.

Karan thanked him and took her hand. He directed her towards the lifts and waited for one to come down. He squeezed her hands and asked her, "I thought we could order room service today, or do you want to dine?"

Before she could answer the lifts opened with a ting and they went in. Add the doors closed she squeezed his hand and said without looking at him "Food is the last thing on my mind right now"

Karan cursed the bloody person who decided to install cameras in lifts and just gripped her hand tighter. They finally reached their floor and made their way to the corner suite he had booked for them. He opened the door and took her in with him.
