chapter fourteen
dancing in the rain

nova was working today, it was a rainy day out and on most rainy days kids and adults would come in and read. she enjoyed rainy days, it meant that the store would be packed and the fresh smell after it stopped raining was her favourite.

"hi, dear." novas boss melinda, but mel for short, grinned as she stood beside the younger girl.

nova looked up, "hi, melinda."

"how many time have i told you to call me mel?"

"way too many for me to count." nova muttered in reply.

"haha. there's a boy in the comic book section looking for you." mel smiled sheepishly as she directed nova towards the back-ish corner of the bookstore.

nova dug her shoes into the ground, "woah! woah, mel! nooo! i have to read to the little ones."

her pleads didn't work and melinda just kept on directing nova towards the comic book section with her arm swung around her shoulder. "he's a handsome young man." mel whispered.

"shh mel!"

"too bad he's young." melinda shook her head as the young boy looked up. when he looked up and didn't look up at melinda but at nova, mel took that as a good time to leave.

"hi," peter waved as nova moved to sut across from him on an unused beanbag chair.

"heyo petey." nova smiled.

and then they sat in silence, it was no doubt that they were thinking about the night under the stars.

"how's work?" peter asked as he placed his comic book down

"it's good, you know how i like rainy days." nova replied as she tidied up the area, all well looking back to peter ever thirty seconds or so.

"i do." peter nodded. "speaking of rainy days, do you wanna do something after work? it's supposed to be raining all day."

"sure, wanna grab dinner then hangout? whatever you wanna do." nova replied.

things between the two had be slightly awkward. nova and peter had seemed to have grown closer since the night they had spent on the roof. without even noticing the two had fallen asleep with their hands intertwined. it was cute but when bucky came to wake the two up and caught them holding hands, he had freaked out.

he had yelled very loudly, that had caused the two to jump up from their sleeping positions in a panic. if anyone was just watching, they would have died laughing.

"sure thing." peter smiled.

"delmars?"

"duhh!"

peter nodded at novas remark of a yes. he swung the door to mr. delmars deli open. his dark brown eyes searched the deli for an open spot where they could did. oddly enough it was busy and the only available spot that was open was their spot.
