Flashback, middle school

Just your average day, school came and went and now it was time for the walk home. Everyone saw great potential in this little girl, might have even inflated her ego some but those high expectations wore her out. It was her second year of junior high yet everyone made it sound like she needs to pick a place to go right this second.

(Y/N) strolled down the beat up sidewalk, headphones on full blast and hands shoved in her pockets. She turned her head towards the sky, the winter air still lingering but the sky clear and bright as if it were spring. It brought a small smile to her face, seeing nature at its fullest.

(Y/N) walked to this little park she would always come to when she wanted a moment alone. Only this time there was a boy sitting on one of the swings. Perfectly split red and white hair almost like a candy cane. (Y/N) walked up to the swing next to him, hanging her headphones around her neck while she wasn't using them.

The boy looked over at her when she sat down beside him. That gave (Y/N) a moment to fully analyze him. Just from that second she knew this boy had great potential. That and the uniform he wore was famously know as one of the elite schools for the rich. "Hey there, hope to don't mind some company." The girl said, a sweet smile being offered to the boy.

"Do you just talk to random strangers regularly?" The boys monotone voice asked. (Y/N) laughed at how blunt this boy was.

"No, I don't but for some reason I felt maybe some company would be more enjoyable than being alone." She said then offered a hand. "I'm (Y/N) (L/N) by the way." (Y/N) introduced. The boys mismatched eyes stared at her then shook her hand.

"Shoto Todoroki." He said. (Y/N) smiled.

"Mm, prestige. Must be a hassle having that last now." (Y/N) said, swinging beside the boy.

"You're not gonna tell me I am lucky or something?" Shoto asked. (Y/N) giggled at his question.

"Nah, being lucky is getting to live your own life without the words of the adults around you." (Y/N) said. " Hey, wanna escape?" (Y/N) asked, yanking on the chain of Shoto's swing and brining him closer. She looked right into his eyes, she was dead serious with that question.

"Escape? I would get in trouble...." Shoto trailed off. He had to admit, that was what he wanted most.

"Don't listen to those adults, we can do whatever we want! I sure am not listening to the teachers at school. They tell me to know what I want for my future now." (Y/N) said, jumping off her swing. Shoto just gawked at her, was this girl crazy?

"W....Where would we go?" Shoto asked, his voice shy.

"I know just the place, let's go!" (Y/N) exclaimed in excitement. She grabbed Shoto's hand and began running through the busy sidewalks taking them to their destination. The sun started slowly going down, night temperatures settling in. By the time the sun was almost completely set they stopped. They were standing in front of a rusty metal fence that boxed off an abandon building. (Y/N) rolled back a piece of the ence and ushered Shoto to follow her. He crawled under the fence, getting dirt all over his knees and arms. "We are almost there." (Y/N) whispered with a giggle.

The two went into the old warehouse and up to the highest floor. (Y/N) then plopped on her butt and laid back. Shoto looked at her questionably and then did the same. The stared up at the sky, stars just barely becoming visible. "I found this place not that long ago but I usually come alone. None of my friends at school would enjoy it." (Y/N) said.

"What made you think I would?" Shoto asked, turning his head to look at the girl beside him. (Y/N) smiled, reaching her hands up to the stars and pretending to grasp them.
