Evelyn wasn't ready to talk to Jackson about what she was feeling. She was upset that he thought he could show up whenever he wanted without letting her know. She tried to gather her thoughts and make the best decision.
"Jackson, what are you doing here? I haven't put away my luggage, and you are here. I keep telling you-" He cut her off.
"Babe, I haven't heard from you all weekend, I knew you were coming today. And we need to talk, can we please talk?"
"Jackson, I don't want to talk right now. Can we have dinner tonight instead?"
She grabbed her luggage away from his hands and walked up the stairs.
"I love you, Jackson."
When she left the house, her sisters asked her if she was alright. Rosa had never seen her focused on her thoughts. They both let her be. They knew if she needed to talk, she could come to them. She needed her space. Evelyn went into her room and cried herself to sleep. That night Rosa texted Mike; she was hoping he was available for dinner.
"Hola, Mike. Are you busy?"
He was glad to hear from her. He was at home relaxing that night.
"Nothing much and you?"
She wanted to see him, longing for his touch, but she knew her house was off-limits now with Erica hanging around and in everyone's business.
"I'm hungry, I was going to order some take-out."
The feelings between them were mutual. Mike had invited her over to his place for dinner. Mashed potatoes with pepper and steak filled the air.
"I have an extra plate, and my house is nice and quiet. It will be nice to be able to explore your body without any interruptions."
They both laughed at his comment, but a very true one, she thought. She agreed to come by and explore one another,
He greeted her with a nice kiss and hugged them when she arrived at his house.
"Would I get greeted like this every time?"
He walked her over to the living room and grabbed her jacket. His body longed for her, but he wanted this time to explore her mind and not her body. He was interested in her and had all the best intentions. She was going with the flow. She hadn't been in a relationship in three years; she was going at his pace. She liked the chemistry they shared; how he made her feel was unique. She longed for his touch; her body wanted to feel him every chance. It was all brand new to her, but it felt right and good. He had a tray with hot food set up for her and a glass of red wine. She liked how he greeted her with a nice plate of food; it was a detail for her.
"Enjoy. How was your day?"
"It could've been better. You cooked this?"
She asked as she took a bite of food.
"Yes, I did. I'm glad you like it. Why would your day have been better? How can I make it better?"
He wanted to make her days better and brighter; he tried to make her smile.
"I got nagging sisters that are dying to go on this girl's trip, I forgot to tell you. We are leaving Friday night to Jamaica; I will be back in a week."
When she finished eating, she laid her head on top of his lap, and they talked the night away. She fell asleep on his lap until she saw the sunset the following day. Her alarm went off as she realized where she was. She rushed up to get her things together as Mike opened his eyes and saw her getting her to write him a note. He was bummed that he wasn't going to see her for a whole week, glad she would have some time away and enjoy life.
